Greetings.

Have any of you heard of, or done business with, a company called "The Knife Store"? They have an address in Texas (I can't recall the city) but don't list a phone number, just their FAX line.

I ordered a Cold Steel fixed blade from them a couple weeks ago but haven't yet seen it. I'd hate to think that I've been burned. It could be that they don't actually stock much merchandise and there's a delay from the manufacturer, I guess. I sent an email this morning asking about the status of my order. A phone number would be nice, in order to speak to a living entity.

Well, I may have made a mistake. I have corresponded via email with the store; they're out of stock and have offered to refund my money. Why my card was charged before they shipped is a puzzlement, though. I believe that to be against the law. The phone number from Directory Assistance belongs to a private party. Their address is fairly new, as they say they've recently moved. All in all, I'm unimpressed with them and can't recommend that you buy anything from their store.:cuss:

I ordered the same knife - a Cold Steel 10BT "PeaceKeeper" - from the Knife Center and received it three days later; in time to give it to my younger son to take to Iraq. He's home for Christmas but returns to Mississippi soon, and leaves the country in March. I paid more for shipping but got it in time to not have to pay postage again to get it to him. It's a very fine looking and feeling knife; spear point, razor sharp on both sides and well balanced. He likes it.

I am glad you got it in time. I've never had anything but good luck with those two places I mentioned. They may not always be the cheapest but I am pretty confident when I order it that it will indeed end up in my mailbox in a reasonable amount of time. :)

I also highly recommend Grand Prairie Knives. www.gpknives.com

Again, not the cheapest, but reliable and good people to deal with. They've treated me fairly when they had the chance to do me wrong and get away with it.

I had not used New Graham Knives before, but Grand Prairie was out of stock on the Sharp Maker 204 for quite awhile, so I went with New Graham a couple of weeks ago. They lived up to their online reputation, which is saying quite a bit if you've seen the way people talk them up on the net. Great service.

The Spyderco Yojimbo in my pocket was purchased from New Graham. And they included a free box of bandaids! :D (Which I've fortunately never had to use.)

With so many excellent knife stores on the 'net it isnt worth taking a risk on someone who is unknown. All of the shops mentioned here have been used time and again by countless serious knife collectors without fail, they also tend to offer the best prices. It makes me sad to think that without the GCA we would be buying guns from the same type of stand-up retailors.

Another +1 for One Stop Knife Shop. I just had a Maxpedition Condor II delivered from them today. It's awesome and they shipped it quick.

+1 for 1SKS, but +10 for A.G. Russell Knives ([link]http://www.agrussell.com/[/link]). You just can't beat the customer service of AG Russell, and if you have a problem that can't be resolved over the phone, they have an actual retail location that you can visit. They are also members of the BBB and various consumer trade groups.
