A few weeks ago, I posted about a mishap at my local range. Just after all the drama in my previous post, I went back to the range and spoke with the owner who had returned from the shot show in Vegas. He said that a solution would be found and left it at that. Last Thursday I returned to the range and got the opportunity to speak with him. I found his solution to be somewhat satisfactory. He has decided that the range worker who rented her the gun (although, in my opinion he should have known better...) will be giving the old lady in question several sessions of range safety. Any thoughts guys??

In other news....
With today being Valentines, I decided to do something special for my best friend of 14 years, I got her flowers. Her response? She paintballed my car, pictures coming tomorrow when there is daylight. (at least it was the paintball gun and not that finnish mosin I gave her for Xmas  )

Now his balls are on the line.

In all seriousness, sounds like a fair deal. Could have been worse, but at least she finally receives proper training.

Lmfao CHI, perhaps now he'll be a little more careful who he rents a piece to eh?
Tony, I don't believe she's alergic but she has threatened to beat me sensless multiple times if I ever got her flowers. I always thought she was bluffing but I never had the guts to mess with this....

In all fairness I suppose I should mention that I suggested that she shoot my car instead of my person to test the new paintball marker she got today and yes, I took a turn. Man alive! That new Tippmann A-5 is one sweet piece of work...

Alright, I've got a few pix to show you before I hit the daily grind.

I guess the gas cap cover makes for a nice point of aim...

With all that said, here's a pic from my trip to the cheney public range last friday. And people say mosins are junk... :D

That's 5 shots @100 yards, iron sights btw.

If I get a chance later I'll tell you guys what else happened at the range....

My only question would be what will this do to prevent such a situation in the future? Next time something like this happens, some unlucky dude is gonna lose his "boys". Maybe for future rentals to new shooters, the RO renting the gun should instruct the new shooter to come get HIM in the case of a malfunction. Instruct the person to make the gun safe, or at the very least lay it down at the line, pointed downrange, and come get the RO for help. This is assuming they are not telling them this already.

I made Jon get me some roses once just cause I was feeling girly, but otherwise he knows not bring any home. He knows I like chocolate, but it's more of the Andes Mints he brings me.

I think it's a good idea for the guy who rented it to her give her lessons. It's only fair. Now she will learn how to handle a gun and he will learn how to handle people. Also it will show him what people really know. Probably will be a good experience for both.

SMLE, I read your responce and nearly fell out of the chair I was laughing so hard! That's a real nice way to sum up a crummy situation.

Sturmruger, we both shoot each others cars on a regular basis. We play on private land and if it's dry enough, we'll actually pull the cars out on the fields and integrate them into the barricades and bases. And last time we went at it, I broke her driver side mirror.

To sum up my last range visit, I got the opportunity to shoot a NM M-1A and an M-1 carbine, both firsts for me. Also, the old boy who showed up with those rifles had some fancy scoped 30.06, lets just say I did better with the mosin. He didn't have the best gun handling skills either. It's too bad that such firearms are wasted on his ilk....
