The matcho CCW!

During the time I held my CCDW instructors certification, we passed some 4,000 applicants (gave "second chance" testing to about a dozen) and only had one blatant incident of bad attitude. After the range testing and final paper exam, the senior instructor announced that the entire group of about 25 had passed with flying colors, and would be certified for applcation. One young man who had done well throughout, said, aloud so everyone in the room could hear, "GOOD! Now we'll be even with those damned cops". I'm not sure what happened to his paperwork

Actually, his paperwork was processed just like the rest, but he had a private session in which it was explained very thoroughly which bears are, and are not, allowed to do whatever in the woods. His comment was passed on to his sheriffs dept. and to the issuing agency at KSP. Don't know if he made it or not, but hopefully he did, after someone blew the soot and smoke out from between his ears.

Well, most of my yeehawism was harnessed by the US Army. LOL

But, I think i had some of it when I bought my first gun, too.

I think the key is harnessing the initial Yeehawism, and changing it.

Sort of a "Yes, kid... it's cool as hell, and good for you that you can carry. Be proud. But here's the facts of life ..."

Enthusiasm about being armed is great, so long as it's properly handled. I.E. rather than show your piece to everyone in an effort to let them know you're armed, do what I do:

My friends know I'm a gun nut and RKBA lover, because I constantly make it my duty to write my reps, write letters to newspapers, and educate EVERYONE I POSSIBLY CAN.

I don't show my GUNS in public, but my attitude and speech reflect a great belief in the second amendment. Everyone that knows me understands that I believe it's the most important amendment.

I've made a few people realize the error of gun control. Ha! I know the libs say it a lot, but "If i can help just one person..." ya know?

Anyways, good to see that you got to the kid. I'm sure that, under your initial guidance, he'll gain a solid common sense foundation, and become a real asset to RKBA.

Congratulations to the kid,,,,, Does anyone realize what he did?

He just did what we are all saying he needs to do. He found himself a mentor. I assume he has/had no father figure to teach him right and wrong on this subject. He found himself an older gun person to teach him.:D

Raise your new adopted son well P95. :)

How do any of you go about meeting new shooting friends?

OFF TOPIC, I think we need the public to look at us like this.

Sheep, wolves, and sheep dogs. I think we are sheep dogs, not wolves, the wolves are the bad guys, the predators. We are the sheepdogs. We can and will protect ourselves, and sometimes save the sheep as well. The sheep? Well they have trouble telling the difference between wolves and sheep dogs.

Update ... maybe even epilogue!!

Windy but sunny ... made it to the range, albeit for only about an hour .. too much else on today! Chet turned up at my place and we went down together.

I took the 22/45, and K22 ... and he had the 17 in his Fobus. When we got there (no one around which was great) .... I put the .22's on the bench in the carry case .. and sorta said to him .. ''OK, what's first?'', having suggested before that he spend some time on .22. This was a bit of a test actually.

I watched him to see how he would handle the .22's .. and was pleasantly surprised to see him take each outa the case and carry out good safety drill .. without any prompting. That was a big hurdle jumped. He checked clear both guns and kept his trigger finger out .. and laid them pointing downrange.

Set up a target at about 30 feet and got going. Now this guy does know how to shoot ..... having been around guns a lot and altho relatively new to handgun .. manages good control. A little extra help with his trigger release and he was getting shots in well and tight. So not really any probs there .... better than I'd expected. The red dot on the 22/45 really got him cranked up! He was hittin so well and enjoying it!

On then to Glock ... he had a full Win White Box ... and we proceeded to burn those up .. prior to which I had him show me what he could and couldn't do with a draw .. empty gun initially. His action was smooth if not over fast but, heaven be praised, he made his draw with trigger finger clear ... another thing that was almost impressive.

Got the gun sights tweaked just a bit after some slow fire and then consumed most of the remaining 75 rounds with double taps ... draw and fire .. etc. An hour went real quick.

Know what?? This guy's gonna be fine!!! He is plenty competent with a gun - better than some I have watched. He is safe for himself and others. So, what was his problem??

Simple .. inflated ego with macho overtones ... nothing else. He admitted freely that he had been a total AH with his initial attitude .... what I first wrote about. All he had had to do was THINK! And I reckon all I did was ''set him on the straight and narrow'' .. he did the rest. He is now I can confidently say .. a safe and responsible CCW .. who only needed a ''nudge''. No real credit to me ... all down to him .. being more mature than I would have first judged.

Feels good tho .... gotta say!!!:) (but I still don't like Glocks!! :D )

Next please!!:p
