I just thought I would show off my new custom bolt knob for the frankenstevens 200 project. This knob was courtesy of one Dan Burnside over on savage shooters. It's fitted to the original bolt handle and required grinding down the old knob and tapping the shank.

I've fired a few Mosins that could have used one of those, or alternatively a place to hold a good sized mallet.

what type of barrel is that and what length is it?

where did you get that bolt handle, that is sharp

Next, I want to see an 8-Ball knob on the bolt handle!

Actually.. my target rifle has a nice round ball on the end. That would be pretty cool to paint on there.

That bolt isn't all that big when you look at a lot of tactical rifles. I had KMW do their magic on my 40x Bolt.

Shilen chambers a 7.62x39? You're supposed to get something cool, like a 6.5x47 Lapua. Although I did buy 26 boxes of Norinco 7.62x39 for $4 a box yesterday.

Problem I see with a bolt that long is finding a case that deep enough to close the lid. Looks like it adds about 3" to the width of the gun. Tougher to store other guns next to it in a safe unless you remove the bolt.

What's not cool about a 26" bull profiled .308 bore 1-15" twist 7.62x39mm bench gun shooting 110g bergers at 2800fps. You'll NEVER see another one of these, 6.5 Lapua heavy rifles on the other hand are a dime a dozen. I practically have to step over piles of them at the range. If midway stocks it it ain't cool, to get the cool stuff it requires a special order. Shilen will chamber everything from 218bee to 303brit on up to 35rem and larger in any profile or twist your heart desires

The paint is GM tangier orange single stage acrylic enamel over a coat of bulldog adhesion promoter and filler primer

If I was building a gun like that I would want a cartridge the was inherently accurate. My personal pick would be a 6mm BR. The 7.63x39 would be at the bottom of the list with the 6.5 Carcano or 303 brit, but to each his own.

"inherent" accuracy is a load of complete BS, Besides that what's not accurate about a cartridge that the PPC family is based from. You don't get more inherently accurate than PPC. People like you are the reason I'm building this rifle.

The reason rounds like 6mm BR are viewed as being more accurate is there aren't any crappy rifles so chambered. If SKS'es came in 6br people wouldn't think of it as an "accurate" round.
