I just found 9 mm for $ 10 a box. That's not too bad so I bought a case. Cost of components brings reloading to almost that but the cost of equipment is expensive. That's just for the first time you reload. After that cases don't cost anything, You've already bought a pound of powder which will load about 1200 rounds and you can probably pay off the press in 500 rounds of reloading. After that it's very cheap to reload.

The more you reload the cheaper it gets. Buying in volume is the secret. 8 pounds of powder, 1000 primers at a clip and casting your own bullets helps a lot.
