This NIB Security-Six has a perfect dual tone blue/purple finish. Only the total frame and the bluing on top of and on the back of the hammer are done this way...but not the barrel nor the trigger guard! In some of the following photos any glare seen in the purple is just glare from the lighting. My camera doesn't do justice to magnificent beauty that this Security-Six exhibits in person:

I always like the Rugers with those plumb colored parts. I've heard people object to them but they always appealed to me.

I have a low-back Six that is the same color. Frame purple, cylinder and barrel blue. It's not as purty as yours, this is an old carry gun.

I really like the grips on that Six ! Those are factory ?

Yes they are factory Ruger target grips. But these grips will not fit the low-back Sixes-however on ebay you will often see low back target grips via the after market.

I had an HK P7 that also exhibited the "plum color effect". I wrote to HK about it and they said it could be one, two, or a combination of three things: 1) the steel used to build the gun was slightly different than that which was normally used. 2) the heat treatment was possibly a factor along with the different steel. 3) the bluing solution was slightly "off" or else the solution was not at full strength after having been used for awhile.

A few parts on my older SIGS are turning plum, but its not unattractive. Ive seen Dan Wesson's with a definite purple tint as well.

I've a thing for plum guns.

Whether it's this or the plum controls on the early Beretta 92s, or the plum polymer stocks of Russian AK-74s, there's something about a "not quite black" gun I like! :)

I had a Smith & Wesson Model 39-2 that the decocker/safety had turned purple on. Just that one part. It looked neat I thought.

Those old Speed/Security Six revolvers were always nice. I had a couple of them back in the day. My ex claimed the last one I had when we split up. She always did know good guns. I tried to buy it back from her, but she was too smart for that.

OP. Thanks for sharing the pictures. Enjoyed them.
