So I am out shooting my new VZ2008.I just finished loading a mag when another member of my club shows up.I load the mag in the rifle and start to shoulder the firearm. He gets out of the car and hes on me like white on rice asking what I am shooting! He has no ear protection on.I thought this was rude, shouldn't he wait till I am finished shooting ,or during a cease fire discuss such things?Would have you let a couple of rounds go?lol,I didnt. Latter we talked and he was wearing a CZ hat so hes a big fan of them and never really seen one in person before.I was annoyed at first but then got less as time went on.I should have let him shoot it but I still felt a bit annoyed.Help me take the highroad!!

Yup, I know that guy. He's the one who always asks a stupid question or starts a joke during my backswings when bowling or playing golf.

He had a CZ hat on.He had never seen a VZ58,VZ2008 in person before. In my state they are not easy to buy at a decent price.

Maybe he's into CZ handguns? I own three CZs and wouldn't know a VZ58 from a stick in the mud.

My advice is chill out, it'll be ok... I'm sure he wasted what, a whole minute or three out of your day because he was excited to see something different?

Forindooruse you should really get hold of a VZ58 a real pleasure to shoot!

I usually just point to the flag and say "range is HOT!" To be honnest he shouldn't have walked up to the firing line without eyes n ears on, but it is better to take the high road cause you just can't fix stupid.

So, his lack or preparing by having muffs on his passenger seat is his excuse for chewing you out? I would have fired the mag and then gone and checked targets

I read that as the guy being excited and inquisitive about the gun, not chewing out the OP for shooting while guy had no ears. The no ears statement was just to explain something crazy the guy did during the encounter.

I'm guilty of having gotten silly excited about seeing someone shooting something at the range before. But I waited to talk to them until after they were done. There was a bunch of pointing and some bouncing and some silly giggles while talking to my GF while he was shooting that huge ass Barrett .50, though.

That's the way I read it as well.

I'll look into it, I think I know a fella with one that would be willing to let me try it out. Really, they've never sparked any interest in me.

I quite often have someone interested in something I have at the range. This is usually because I take the things that interest me which are not the typical things you see at the range. When ever someone is curious, I freely give them any information they want, and am friendly and return the favor by asking what they are shooting "over there" (usually I already know what they are shooting, and on occasion I know more about it than they do, but it makes them feel good to have someone interested). Then I will offer to let them pop off a few rounds in the one. Usually they decline, but sometimes they take the opportunity. It makes their day, and they leave with a big grin on their face. It never hurts to have friendly acquaintances.

Alternatively I have fired some "Big Boomers" with muzzle breaks, and received dirty looks and a back handed comment here or there, like; "you won't make friends with a muzzle break" and such. I just shake my head, smile and blast away.
