To elaborate, the lugs on the 710 don't lock into the reciever, but instead they lock into the barrel, really accurate and strong. It's also a 3 lug bolt, with the head a totally separate piece from the bolt body. I think Remington had a great idea here with the one piece action concept, but they blew it by using a cheesy plastic liner inside the reciever and the plastic bolt shroud assembly. Honestly if not for the plastics where they don't belong, the action would other wise be smooth and clean feeling where it follows through the reciever. If someone made an up graded reciever liner and bolt shroud assembly the 710 action would be a much more gooder concept. Even with the inherent design flaws the action is incredibly strong. I'm just kind of disappointed, and honestly, some what baffled regarding the great concept action being built around plastic?
In addition to amount of work they did trying to build an accurate and strong action, they put a 3 stage jewel trigger that is capable of any weight and position desired with zero drift. They are pillar bedded, and did a nice job with the button lapped barrel and button crowning too. They also did a match grade type micro groving with the bore. I have two of them that produce sub MOA groups in 7 mag and .270 win. at 200 yds..
So does anyone know of a steel or aluminum reciever liner and bolt shroud replacement.
