demographics...or..no obama voters there.....its easy , remove the 70% of people committing gun crimes in the us, Wala,,,70% reduction in shooting. simple
Its not PC though,,, kind of like affirmative action for criminals...

A family member feels that the Swiss have a low violent crime rate not so much because of their gun ownership, but because of their law-abiding culture.

It occurred to me late that, if so, then is the opposite condition a reason for career felons in the US to see personal guns as a deterrent?

Switzerland has one of the highest employment rates in the world.
That and the free gun laws make it a low crime country!

I lived in Switzerland for two years (in Zurich which is the German speaking part of the country). It was incredibly orderly, rules are followed (hardly anyone jay walks for example) and it is very tradition based. I think the biggest reason is that the country is just flowing with money. The largest number of crimes appear to be committed by foreigners. The Swiss papers will be glad to point out to you when someone is arrested where they come from (mostly Serbia or Croatia it seems).

They have such a tiny population compared to this country,we have so many more low income neighborhoods,so many more gangs, thugs, theives, massive drug problems,& disorder, the swiss must think this country is a giant insane asylum compared to them.
