[/IMG]Range Report: I had a chance to do a little preliminary testing of this great little mount. My testing is still a bit inconclusive on all counts, as I had limited time, and a few glitches that could be my equipment. First of all, delivery was ASAP from TWS. I got delivery to Ohio from Texas in 2.5-3 days. At first, I panicked, as Rafaga forgot to include the instruction sheet, and I called him immediately upon snagging on installation, but then quickly figured out my install problem. It is a rather simple device, yet shows a lot of thought in design. Mounting includes removing your stock screw, and replacing it with a supplied screw, and batting down the rear lug piece to your receiver tang. Then, having removed your rear sight from the base, the scope base snaps into the heavy spring loaded sight base, and simply gets snapped at the rear by the swinging piece on the newly mounted lug. There is a piece on the rear of the Picatinny rail that slides to accomodate the latching process. Once in place, the mount can be flexed just a tad, but springs back to position. This flexes no more than the ACOG bas for the Reflex sight, which is annoying, but doesn't seem to impede performance of the sight, etc. I first put on the relfex sight, and sighted in. There was a distinct offset from my previous use of the Reflex on another weapon, but not excessive, and adjustment was made within the confines of the clicks avaiable on the sight. Then I slapped on the ARMS throwlever mounted Leupold 6x. Limitations on time only allowed for shooting at 50 yards, and the 6x is over magnification for that range, as it does not have parallex adjustment for 50 yards. My shots started to string a little, for two reason. First, I was not sandbagged at the rear, and suffering a 10-15mph gusting winds. Otherwise a nice day. The other reason was I discovered my stock screw, which holds the rear mounting lug, had become a bit loose. Whether it was from me not tightening it completely at first, or working loose, I don't know. If it continues to become a problem, I intend to explore installing a solid thru-n-thru bolt, rather than the short wood screw. One other problem I had, that many will NOT have, is my ARMS throw lever mounts seem to be oversized for this Picatinny. Now the rail could be undersized, but both of my ARMS mounts have been on oversized bases, and could be stretched a bit, so I won't blame TWS yet. I shimmed temporarily with masking tape, since that was what I had at the range. The little sheet metal flanges on the ARMS mounts might need to be replaced with thicker ones, or I could shim, but this complicates an easy on, easy off idea. Enclosed are photos of sample groups at 50 yards. The silhouette section and plate with the orange sticker were shot with the Reflex, the plate with the yellow tape was the Leupold. I am sure that more solid, clamp type rings, or rail grabber mounts would secure the scopes better than my existing ARMS mounts. I have further testing to do. In the meantime, the 5.45x39 seems to have great potential. If these 50 yards groups are this tight, then 100 yards groups should be about double, and don't forget the wind was blowing...a quiet day could only make them smaller. I'll keep you all posted as to further tests and results.
