Vintage Kimbers??? Has it been that long? I tend to buy guns and hold onto them. I've never much liked the idea of owing a gun that was too valuable to shoot. In 1997 I bought a Clakamas, Oregon Custom Classic Kimber for $600. I nearly fell over this week when some of the members here pointed out that the darned thing was worth $1000+ and highly sought after. So I decided to take another look in my gun safe just to check the value of a few other Kimbers I have. Looks like I have two Kimbers that may be of significant value: an original PRO CDP out of the custom shop and a Pro Carry SLE...apparently the precusor of the Pro Carry HD. Since the blue book appears to be way off on my Custom Classic, can any of you offer any ideas as to what these two pistols might be worth? Both are in mint condition.

BTW...I paid $500 for the PRO CDP and $750 for the Pro Carry SLE

Vintage Kimber? They have only been around for 20 years or so.

I don't know what people are paying for early models, but I do know that I have an Ultra CDP Series I that will not be for sale anytime soon.

The "limited edition" Kimbers (precursors to production models) don't have seem to get the same "premium" that the Clackamas rollmarked guns do. You may get a little bounce due to the fact that they are pre-Series II guns but it's that "Clack" mark that some collectors look for.

(But, you could get more than you paid for them since the models of those guns produced now are much more.)

The pre-series guns do carry a bit of a premium to some, but will be about the same as a newer used similar model.
