oldfool,

There are several old Savage 340's and Stevens 325's out there (basically the same gun with diff name, there are other hardware store verisions such as Revelation too) If you keep an eye out, you'll see them on used gun shelfs, anywhere from $150-250 around here.

The early ones had two drill and tapped holes near the rear of the left side of the reciever for peep sights. If it has to be scoped, look for the later models with 4 holes that are drilled and tapped on the left side of the reciever. These readily excpet after market scope mounts. B-Square is one such mount.

I hate leverguns .......

I hate how much money I keep spending on them.

My Grizzly custom might cost as much as a noveske, but I find it to be a hell of alot more useful. I can run that smooth as butter lever as fast as any lee-enfield bolt gun.
In .35 rem I feel confident taking any game in north america from hogs to elk or even an angry moose (if got forbid I have to).

As a butcher I work on more game every season then most people take in their lifetime and I firmly believe in using calibers that won't destroy too much meat. I have people taking deer all the time with large magnum bolt guns only to have to show them how they just destroyed half of their meat in the process.

While i own two model 94's and a 336 Texan in 30-30 cal. how about a little love for the marlin lever-action .22's. alot of fun for a little money; and the best guns for the young shooters in my opinon. What do you guys think?

Wish the 99 Savage was still in production. Now that is a lever action!

I'm a youngster, but I love those lever-actions. Plan to purchase a Marlin 336W as my next gun. I can appreciate those black rifles as much as the next guy, but blued steel and hardwood is never going out of style with me!
