The video doesn't lie...right?

Shoot

I guess that kinda lays waste to the notion of knockdown power, since the cop shot him five times at a range of about 20 feet, and he just kept walkin' after the first four. Wonder if the cop on the left whacked his partner upside the head for firing from behind him and what appeared to be about 3 or 4 feet to the side...Lemme go look again.
The angle may be deceptive.

EDIT...Okay...Six or Seven feet to the side. Second video seems to show the other cop pumpin' a couple of rounds into him too. What knockdown power?

Makes you wonder though

If some gang banger were to point a black cell phone at you in the dark and you shot him what the consequences would before tone of us? After all your not going to have two cruisers video taping the whole thing, for the convenient perusal of a jury. It would not be fun.

As to the action that ensued after the suspect went into a near-Iscoceles with...gun or cell phone...or whatever it was...I think the cop on the right showed superhuman restraint in not taggin' the guy then and there. I would have.

This seems like great video for showing that police need more firearm/marksmanship training. I count at least 3 shots that seem not to hit home from 10 feet away. In addition, behind the target is a convenience store that appears open for business. If the back is turned and you got a moment, how about aiming the weapon.

Oh yeah, it's really easy for the officers to line up their shots, infact it's second nature to have every bullet hit dead center on the perp all while a hundred gallons of adrenaline is coursing through their veins.

If this guy knows anything about guns, it's to the likes of Crosman and Daisy.

I wish I had a link - but a while ago saw that vid next to another from one of the other cruiser's dash cam - the other vid showed very clearly why they shot and equally showed how we cannot always judge by one set of images.

It appeared totally justifiable.

If someone gets shot, and keeps walking, it makes me suspect they're on drugs. It reminds me of a story I heard about three police officers who could not take down a guy on PCP.

That is just one video. I would want to hear what the police officers said before passing judegment.

The video doesn't lie, but then again, it doesn't tell the truth either. It simply documents from the vantage of the camera's field of view.

Talk about making a furtive move! Then the guy was dumb enough to make another and they nailed him. This needs to go in the "What not to do" category for when cops are trying to stop you.

Neither did I.

Its more than one video. The whole point is to not pass judgment. The second video reveals what the first didn't.

Xavier, do you know what caliber those cops are using? Expectations of caliber specific stopping power annoy me and I'd like to know what they were using.

To look at it another way, camera footage showed fake stuff with limited viewing angles all the time before the advent of digital editing. Look at some of the bad horror movies from the 70's or early 80's. Full of images that are too close in and too dark to really see anything but what your imagination wants to see.

Cameras have a very limited perspective on reality and it is important to realize that. (same for news articles often enough)

I have it on fairly good authority that they were shooting .40 S&W. Hudspeth was shot eight times. 15 shots total were fired.

So everyone is saying that he didn't fall down fast enough? Looked like he fell down pretty quickly.

Is there an article that summarizes it? Because one could easily make an equal argument that the cop shot at him 5 times, and he fell down on the last shot because that one hit. Truth is probably that some hit and some missed.
