The Wheel Gun Why It Still Has Appeal

I know this is strategies tactics and training geared towards self defense.

But for woodswalking where self-defense may be more against four-legged or slithery foes, my revolvers will accommodate a wide variety of rounds, from shotshell to lead in roundnose, wadcutter, and semi-wadcutter and in metal jacket from FMJ to softnose or hollowpoint, in power levels from .38 Spl, .38 Spl +P, to .357 magnum.

Being armed makes me alert to avoiding bad situations.

I have a custom 1911 45acp and Smith 2.0 midsize 9mm. When I carry Which isn’t often I usually take my smith Model 10 38 spcl. When we go camping and I’m gonna have a handgun in the RV or put it in my waistband for an after dark walk I’ll take the 9mm.
We only camp in the fall and winter and spring tho.

I enjoy shooting revolvers more but would wager my Glock 19 would be more reliable over 10,000 rounds than my model 66. It also holds 3x the ammo, is quicker to reload, and is user serviceable.

The revolver isn’t obsolete by any means but theres a reason they aren't issued anymore.

I suppose a couple of situations a wheelgun is still a good choice would be for very small guns and very large ones. I'd trust an LCR or J-frame more than most very small autos, and if you need a heavy round for hunting or bear defense the revolver is usually the better option.
