These European hunters can shoot.

I've always wondered why someone hasn't tried to design a pump action type gun for dangerous game. It would probably have to be a newer design to handle the types of pressures for dangerous game rounds and have a solid lock up, but it could be just as reliable as a bolt action and you wouldn't have to take your finger off the trigger and a hand off the gun to work a new round into the chamber.

I'm Norwegian born, but never hunted there. My grandfather actually uses a 7mmRem for moose. I live in Georgia, and use a 7mmRem for our skinny whitetails. Probably my favorite caliber ever!

Google the Krieghoff Semprio, it's a pump action deluxe built for driven hunt.

Hmm, from some videos of it on youtube, it seems to operate in reverse of a traditional pump. It almost seems like a take down model, that has a slide between the receiver and the barrel.

Yeah from what I can tell you push the slide forward with recoil exactly opposite from a traditional slide action.

I think the mechanism is inspired by the rotating bolt mechanism used in many semi-auto rifles. I know for a fact that it's a take down rifle.

Not my cup of tea though, very expensive and still not as fast as a semi-auto :).

just a side-note observation on european hunting-gunmakers:

in the old world, for most hunting is a sport for the rich.
People who family-wise own land and woods .. or can afford
to lease a "hunt" (area).

So the amount of money for a novice hunter to start
buying is on average higher than in the US.

as 2nd A. and hunting are not connected here,
many a hunter will only have 3-6 longguns and 2 "Fangschuss"-guns (mercy-sidearm)

i´ve seen some private longguns here ...
More common to see an expensive english 12ga SxS
and a blaser .. than a Savage or Rem870.

The most common inexpensive i´ve seen
were original or butchered K98 "Stutzen" (cutdown-model)

For revolvers S&W .357s have a big following
for hunting-sidearm.

..once saw the cabinet of a construction firm guy.
Only 4 guns. a bigbore Blaser, engraved unknown SXS 12ga., engraved 12ga., 223.rem combo, and a Korth. Some scratches on them. He kept them for use, not value.

So, no market for budget guns with our high productions costs.
