They came, they saw, they shot, they left-coolest two women I ever saw.

LOL, who even said they were CIA. Maybe just two gals that take their shooting seriously. Regardless, it was refreshing to see two people not blabbing all over the place, taking selfies, breaking rules. and on and on.

Let's see aloof, travel in pairs, or threesome's, I got it, they were Hairdressers. That's more or less the way I have been shooting my 46 years. I am done in 10 minutes, I shoot 50 possibly 100 from 1 or 2 guns, and leave. You can hear me when I shoot, because it's like my life depended on it, 3 seconds for an 8 round mag, or 7 for a 15 rounder tops. Unless you are doing weak hand drills, or practicing something new, it doesn't take long to spend $200 on ammo if you spend an hour there. Not like in the old days when you could shoot 4 boxes with targets and get change for a $50..That's another reason why a lot of folks don't shoot as much and private clubs aren't a prevalent.
Plus shooting paper doesn't give you a realistic feel for going through the drill of getting your weapon out under stress and shooting 2 or 3 targets. Unless you belong to a range that has all the toys.
I know my Uncles club from 50 years ago, had the same old guys there every night, from the Chief of police to the Butcher. But it cost plenty in NY to keep that old shack up and running, and up to code. Along with security because it was in a desolate spot on LI , NY, I would think there are houses built on that property now, all the guys died off, and the property was just too valuable.

Probably pros, and I don't mean Jesse Duffy. (Although she certainly would fit the description, and could easily shoot like that.) I have met a few like that, they usually work for alphabet soup agencies. Was one a redhead?

I am. Then I can start them on their way towards being the other kind.

If they want to call you, they'll find your number-even if they don't know your name. ;)

That's good, it really is. I'm no instructor but I commend you for helping others and proliferating the correct usage of firearms.

Women don't assume that they are naturally good simply because they are women.
I can explain if necessary.

Women's capacity to be as good as, or better than men also applies to the career from which I retired a year ago.

Go to a range on a regular basis as I have for so many decades and it is not hard to see the seasoned shooter regardless of male or female. Just subtle signs, the range bag, the approach to the bench and on and on. I am the OP of this thread, I would have noticed them just as much a if men had come in together. However, you do not see many women come in with the mind set these two ladies had. Yes, I am pretty much the same as these ladies. I however almost always go by myself. I am focused on my task, do not lke to be bothered, and take my shooting and my guns very seriously. However, it was not so much the shooting or the equipment that caught my attention. It was the way they communicated to each other. Non-verbal, almost synchronized. And No, I was not staring at these lady's, but am always aware of my surrounding, especially at a gun range. Yes, I did take some time to watch them they same way you notice things at a range. For instance, I remember this one guy would come in, always in the latter part of the day, He shot only one gun all the time. A Desert Eagle Magnum 500. And this guy could nail target from 7-25 yards like it was a 22.cal. I knew this guy was going to shoot well before he even started. How did I know? Just a habit of so many years in the sales Consulting business. I developed a natural talent of being able to read body language at a young age and honed this skill throughout the years. In fact I find body language fascinating. Watching people react to certain words, certain pressures, the interest of something the defense of others, the way they use there body when lying or telling the truth. People tell you so much.
Lol, as a young man, I used this skill many times to access how well I was doing in my conversations with the ladies. Continue forward or just back off. Spent more time listening and observing than talking. Hint, start with the eyes, they can't hold many secrets.

Was he about 6'3" with a walrus mustache?

Nice story Jeb. Most women I know who shoot, are very good as well, including my wife. About 10-12 years ago she went to an NRA Women's shooting class, at the end of the class the instructor asked her if she was interested in competition shooting because she had done so well.

My Grandpa was a LEO in the 50s. The local PD had a shooting match for the officers and family members- My Mother won the match, at the time she was 16.

Shooting well is a perishable skill, so using any available range time will help maintain that edge.

re: preloaded magazines. If you don't have a lot of time, arriving at the range with "max" preloaded magazines makes best use of that time. It was a habit I picked up when shooting IPSC for many years. Prepping targets beforehand also saves time too.

(I use a sheet of large bristol board with adhesive dot targets arrayed across and down. I can fire multiple handgun magazines at various portions without having to go downrange to score. Use a 10x monocular to check.)

There are women on the pro competition circuit who will handily outshoot most of THR members :)

OP emphasized the pre-loading of a bunch of magazines. I am just as happy to use only one and load it when empty between sets of shots. Actually I like to load only five rounds in a mag to shoot groups of five. What is more common? Pre-loading magazines or reloading them between rounds of shooting?

It's hard to practice a tactical reload if you have to stop and load rounds into mags.
