That's not how you measure primer seating depth.

Use the tip end of the caliper and "measure down" to determine how much below flush. Should be around .004" below.
Learn something every day. The caliper pic was to show it was not proud. I guess it also shows the primer is flush and not 0.004. I'm gonna try to reseat these. Thanks guys.
 
The quickest way to check your primer depth is to run your finger across the primer pocket you can feel that the primer is seated below the rim of the primer pocket. If you can't feel it, it may fire but it may not, if you feel a distinct drop (like you should with a properly seater primer) you can be assured your primer is seated correctly.

Thanks, here's how my life goes. Back when I had the single stage RCBS being model, I had a 100% success rate. Now with an XL 650 and a crap load of everything that goes into a reloading room, I get errors I've never even had known to exist. The more ya know the less ya know.
