Between black coffee, and shiftn' gears
Young man got his first shotgun, parents itching to give it him, they were just antsy as all get out. They have had this shotgun two months before the 25th of December. Oh they disguised it real well, Shotgun and box inside a box that metal shelving comes in.
There is much truth to the rumor mom and dad when boy was gone would retrieve from the attic and ...parents are worse than kids.

A boy has to have his own cleaning kit. Well Grandpa had an idea, being the woodworker and family piddler. He got a wooden box, think small version of Army footlocker with the removable tray.
"Oh I could have gotten the boy a tricked out ready made one, but he likes the junk I piddle and mess with".

Grandma was with Grandpa getting "stuff" that goes in this cleaning kit and spied the Fuzzy type shotgun cleaning tool. It does not fit into the cleaning kit but Grandma's are smart - "Not everything fits in a kitchen drawer, sewing kit, tool box, and one is supposed to have at least something hanging on the wall".

Box is stained real nice, brass plate with the boy's name. Inside is steel cleaning rod, chamber brush, gloves a little of this, a little of that and...pretty neat set up.

Parents went nuts over this cleaning kit, and the grandparents over the shotgun being disguised, wrapped in color comics from Sunday Paper.

Now an Uncle got a single stage MEC reloader and donated some hulls and components.

Aunt figures the nephew needed a leather shooting pouch and belt.

Excited! I'll say! The adults were bad enough, the boy re-defined "Excited".

"Think the boy is set?"

:D

Hearing protection, some good glasses, and lots of ammo to complete the kit.

sm, Do you mean to tell me said "Uncle" has not given the Boy a copy of Brister's (sp), or has he read it already....

Was that Uncle Steve again?

Good on ya again.

Young man has Brister, Misseldine, Ruark and other works a young man should have in his Library.

Has had the eyes, ears, and other safety equipment.
Though I am an "adopted Uncle" - my role in all this was being out with the young man, his parents and being observant in gun fit and all from him shooting a variety of shotguns.

He figured out what fit him best and all, just wanted some more input to make sure. Smart kid. He even shoots pattern boards, and understands how pattern boards assist in gun fit - POA/POI. He also shoots moving targets and "reads the clays".

One of the hardest things was being with his parents when getting this gun - these two were something else. I almost had to separate them and tell them we might not go to the Fast Food joint if they did not behave. :p

Parents - I swear! Gun comes in ...did I mention Parents are something else?

Oh I might know something about the Rebel Gray bandanna and some beef jerky sticks...

Everybody knows [tm]
- a stick of beef jerky in your hip pocket makes one a better shooter.
;)

Us kids got to stick together you know...
Printed page of Trius One Step clay thrower is a "reminder" - just in case anyone wants to know what this family wants. I wonder how that happened?

;)
