Wow, my first post in the gunsmithing section
You guys are going to think that I am nuts.
Some would say it is not worth the time or money but here are my thoughts.
I have a nice CZ 40P that I am in a whole $250.00 bucks. It is a shooter. I made a custom perfect fitting bushing and guide rod for it. I have the trigger to where it is almost perfect. I like this gun. It is a shooter and it holds very tight groups.
Maybe I have been hanging out with Eric Larsen too long, but now I have the itch to customize it further.
Here are my thoughts. I want to pick up a set of XS standard dot sights. They make them for the Colt Defender which is a perfect match for the 40 B slide that CZ used on the 40 P. Then I want to have (or do myself) the front and back straps stippled like Novak does. I attached some pictures of what I am talking about. I guess they do this with a 1/2 round bastard file and actually beat on it with a mallet. I also want the top of the slide stippled. Then I am going to have the whole thing hard chromed. Then possibly and action job although I am not sure that it needs that,
For me, this would be the ultmate CZ and in the end I would have maybe $600.00 in the gun which is what you might pay for many guns stock off the rack.
My question are. What do you folks think of my plan? Also with regard to the stippling, if I were to do it myself I would practice on several pieces of metal first. Then I need to know if I should strip of the poly coat before doing the stippling. Whoever hard chromes it (thinking about Advanced Plating and Weaponry) will have to strip it or bead blast it anyway so I wonder if I can just stipple it right through the poly coat.
