The Glock 21 seems pretty good.

I don't have big hands. How does the frame of a glock 21 compare to an HK USP45 full size?

I'm pretty sure hi-cap 1911s are way too bulky for my hands.

Well, you know that you are going to get the answer of "try one and see!" Now, having said that, the G 21 uses a double stack magazine to get 13 rounds as standard. The grip is a tad large for some people. I don't perceive me as having anything special in hand size...rather normal...and I have no issues with the G21.

I have had two of them, a gen 2 and a gen 3. Both were 100% reliable. I currently do not have one, but will again soon. They seem to really hold resale well, and you can get a used one, shoot it as much as you want, then sell and try something else and always come back to it. I just sold my gen 2 model and am picking up a CZ 97 tomorrow to try.

I have a CZ 75SA that is incredibly nice and accurate, and I wanted to see how the model 97 stacked up against the Glock.

However, the G21 is a tremendous gun...very mild recoil for the caliber, fun to shoot, uber reliable. Try one out!

The grip is large, but you will probably find that you can reach the trigger just fine, which is what counts. The larger grip spreads the recoil out.

The grip is definitely on the large side. As for how it compares to a USP full size, it's just different. Both grips are large, but pretty different from each other. Sorry that's not much to go on, but you really have to feel them for yourself to feel the difference.

I've owned both, still have the USP 45...even added an Expert 45 to keep it company! I prefer the feel & the accuracy of the USP 45.

isnt the 21 just a glock 19 but in .40 s&w?
I would think the glock 22 would be more comparable to a full sized usp. being both are full sized. I have yet to hold a usp. but they look more comfortable than a glock. I dont like the way the angle of grip is for the glock. but w/ a hogue rubber grip it seems better.

I have small-medium hands and I shoot the Glock 21 fine.

Of all the Glock pistols, it is the only model I can shoot super accurately (I've tried all Glocks but those in 10mm and .357 Sig). The fat grip also soaks up recoil so much that it SUBJECTIVELY FEELS like a peashooter (compared to some other .45 acp designs).

I like the G21 a lot, I'm not a Glock fan by any stretch of the imagination, but having said this IMO the G21 is a great shooter.

I'm not what you would call a GLOCK fan either but I bought a new model 21 about a 6 weeks ago and it is one fine weapon. Makes me look good at the range- very very accurate, easy to shoot, recoil is push not a snap that allows you to fire just about as fast as you could possibly want. No problem holding the target. I have medium sized hands - no control problem at all. Mine has the night sights. Carry it in a Bianchi 7L. Good Gun goes bang every time.

Glock 21

I am really a 1911 fan (especially 45 acp). The only Glock I own is a model 21. I do not like the DA trigger on the USP. You will not regret your decision to buy a 21. yf

There's a thread on glock talk (And here, I believe.) about a G20L.
This is really a custom long slide on a G20/21 frame, with a conversion barrel from KKM that fits the .45 slide, and shoots 10mm.
I ordered mine this past monday, I'm waiting for it, it should come in the mail sometime next week. I'll let you know.

I like mine, very accurate, hardly any recoil, with hi-cap mags and one in the pipe you have 14 rounds of .45acp in a handgun. This is a large gun though. Go to a range that rents guns and try one out before you buy.

I'm going gun shopping when I get home from Iraq and I'm gonna add another (3rd) Glock 21 to my collection, sold the previous two G21's for other reasons but do plan for my last G21 purchase, for keeps this time. Just for S&G's I plan on a S&W Model 10 also, just have to have at least one revolver :)

Hey, Yankee, don't you know you can carry the HK cocked and locked just like a 1911? Why mess with the DA?

For my money (or hand anyway), the G21 probably has lousiest ergonomics of any current production pistol on the market (except, of course, for the G20). The best recommendation is to try it first.

If you're considering a G21, you need to review this page:

Yes, the Glock 21 is ugly
and somewhat fat
and has that funny Glock trigger

But . . . .

I have medium size hands and can handle the G-21 without difficulty.
The G-21 is also one of the most accurate .45ACP pistols made.
It is reliable
It is impervious to the roughest conditions

and, it is modestly priced.

Once one learns how to properly squeeze the trigger and keep the trigger all the way back in the rearward position, then allowing it to move forward slightly until a click, then IMO, this marvelous pistol becomes the best combat shooter dollar for dollar that one can own.

I own and shoot Glocks and like them, however I find the H&K USP Tactical or Expert versions to feel better and respond better in my hands.
The Glock 20 and 21 just don't feel right, the platform is just too large and "nongenomic" for the calibers involved.

Accuracy and reliability are comparable in both handguns, wit a slight edge going to the Expert that I had the opportunity to fire.

If you want a large frame belt gun in .45 acp I would recommend one of the H&K pistols.

The G21 is accurate, excellent ergonomics for most people, and it's got next to zero felt recoil. It's a lot less expensive than a HK, the mags are about half the cost and Glock service is unbeatable. I have yet to see a G21 choke at the range. Here's some interesting reading about the G21.

Don't forget, if you feel it is too big in the grip afte holding a G21, you can always take a look at the G37 in 45gap. You get the smaller grip and still get 45acp performance. Don't let negative stories about the gap influence you. If you give it an honest try, I bet you'll like it. That said, if a G21 feels good to you, they are darn hard to beat in a 45acp pistol. Good luck.
