Thinking about a new 9mm

If it's a range gun, you really have to try a CZ 75 series pistol before you make your decision. If, you're going to carry at all, look at a Ruger SR9c. The CZ's steel frame makes it less ideal for carry, but they have a PCR that has an alloy frame that should be great, as well as a P01. I have neither, but I have another alloy CZ, and it should work fine for carry (or range.)
Another vote for a CZ variant. As said, if you don't want an all steel 75B, 85B, or SP-01 you can always opt for the lightweight alloy framed compact 75D PCR, or P-01 as well as their newer polymer offerings like the P-09, or P07. That being said the HK VP9 looks like another great choice from HK if you want polymer.

I keep a Glock 30, "S", on the nightstand, with a front night sight . I am a believer in a "Light and front NS". If I can't see my front sight the gun could be way off target, and if I can't see my target it won't matter.
I had a Glock 30 2.5 version till recently and sold it to pick up the "S". It was a good move, the gun is just perfect in size and width to carry or use for HD.
I also have the Glock 21 mag as my reload aside from 2 more 10 and 9 rounder's.
The only thing I may add is a Veridian light/laser combo for the house, and better ear protection.
I have many handguns including a 26 with a 15 and 33 round mag, as backup. But that 30 S is a nice gun that covers all bases.
If you are dead set on a 9mm, get a 19 or 26 and a 33 round mag for it.

A friend of mine at work just bought this package from buds, considering besides the mag pouch and holster it comes with a 3rd magazine, it's a solid deal at that price. Throw in the S&W military/Leo discount of $50 and its pretty worthwhile.

If you qualify for the $50 off rebate, go to buds sister site, www.budspolicesupply.com, you can get a S&W9 right now with Night Sights and 3rd Magazine for $403 shipped and still get the $50 rebate. You could then add your own holster options if you want.
