Whats the procedure if selling to someone out of state? I have never shipped a firearm before, is it complicated?

THANKS

I've never done it before, but my understanding is that it needs to be shipped to a FFL that resides in the buyer's state. He'll pick the gun up there.

So ffl to ffl? Or can I ship to his ffl? I've heard different ways, I just wanna know the right way.

With a signed ffl copy anyone can ship to an ffl.

However many ffl holders are only willing to receive from another ffl.

So the answer is "it depends"

I've sold on here and other forums before and it's pretty easy. I only ship from my FFL to the buyers. Once a deal is made and I receive payment (either paypal or money order) the buyer has his/her ffl fax a copy of the license to my FFL. Once they have it, I drop my gun off and away it goes. I'm a regular so they treat me well, box it up and only charge me what it costs them. I have bought guns form sellers who ship to my FFL themselves, which my FFL does allow (not all do). That's how I do it and have not had any issues yet. It's easier in my opinion then shipping it yourself. Good luck with your sale, once you get thru the first one it's easy after that.

I have shipped both long guns and handguns to the buyers' FFLS and have never had an issue - make sure your ad shows ALL the blems so there is no issues and a gun getting returned; make sure you receive your payment before shipping. I have used both Fedex ground and USPS for long guns and Fedex next day saver for handguns. Make sure the gun is properly packaged to prevent damage and you insure it for replacement value. While the Fed rules are pretty minimal and easy to obey, make sure your state and the buyer's states do not have any additional requirements for you to follow
