I have the opportunity to buy a PPS in 9mm for 550 or a 40 for 600 and was wondering what everyone thought about the gun. I think the price is reasonable but didn't know if there are some special considerations or places I could get a much better price.
(I have already been looking at the waltherforum and googling it as well as using the search function on THR so feel free to not mention those. I just wanted opinions on the pistol from people not on the walther forum)

I finally got the opportunity to hold one. I didn't like it. It was much too boxy and larger that I thought. For that size, I would just get a Glock 26 or 27. They are wider, but the same in every other way.

I ended up with a Taurus PT-745 in .45 acp.

I also had a chance to handle one and didn't like it. The mag release is poorly designed IMHO (almost like you have to operate it two handed). Trigger wasn't all that great either.

It was slimline and compact.

My concern would be that they worked out all the initial bugs. Recall a reading about a couple issues with early ones.

I hate it!!!!!!

I was so excited to see it and wanted to like it, but after holding it in my hand I hate the feel of it!!!!!:barf::barf::barf:

I think it is too thin, it rub my knuckle joint. I can see that once firing it with the recoil these little guns give off it would cause a nice blister.:cuss:

So I am back to the drawing board and will continue to carry my S&W 340ss Crimson Trace.

Sorry I know that's not what you want to hear.

You guys who "held" one might want to try "shooting" one sometime. The PPS, like most every Walther product, is a rock-solid firearm and excellent performer. I've put hundreds of rounds through mine to date, and it's both accurate and reliable. The adjustable backstraps allow you to fit it to your hand size as well.

I would rather find out bad things the cheap way.

Not really tracking you on that one. I don't understand exactly how you would be developing the blister.(Trigger guard rubbing?)

I don't like the mag release either, but I was planning on pocket carrying with just the mag in it. I don't know if I would want to carry a second mag with the bases they use. As for the trigger I think it would be much nicer when it gets broken in.
