Thinking of a SIG P220, which one should I get,

A P220r (plain jane) ($770.00) like the all black and dont mind the aluminum frame as long as there are no issues with the nitron slide and aluminum frame,(I just learned about this due to my p226r thread).

A P220 ST ($940.00) (from Topgunsupply). Its a all stainless model without the beavertail and wood grips, It comes with black rubber grips.

A P220 ST Elite ($1090.00) with the works, i dont know how I feel about the Beavertail on the Sig platform though.

Any known Issues you guys know about??
THANKS

here's what I currently have, a old folded slide 220, which has had some custom work done on it, and a 220ST, with the has the Hogue aluminum grips, which i got as one of a pair of CPO guns

the 220ST when I got them...they were LE trade-in guns

The folded slide 220 ($500) was my old duty gun and is very reliable and accurate. I've carried it CCW quite a bit since I've had the work done and I think it is agood combination of weight and power

The stainless 220ST was a CPO, back when Sig was having finish problems. I figured there couldn't be much of a finish problem with stainless...I got them each for $600. They do have the milled stainless slide with the internal extractor which some folks had feeding problems with...I did a lot of research and thought it was worth the risk at that price.( the new ones have the more reliable external extractors).

mine have been very reliable and are softer shooting that the alloy framed 220...almost like a heavy 9mm...it also shoots like a laser. I use it as my teaching/training gun...plus CCW when out of town.

I tried the Elite and I cold see the upgrade for me over the ST. I found the beavertail too wide and too deep for comfort. Many folks like the Short Reset Trigger (SRT) but I prefer the Reduced Reset modification offered by Bruce Gray of GrayGuns (GGI)

So it really depends on what you are looking to use it for

My vote would be the P220ST. I really like the older style ST models (not a fan of the elite's). An all stainless P220 would be a hefty piece of hardware, but at the same time that would make it a great shooting pistol for the .45acp. Put some nice wood grips on it.

I keep thinking I need to add a P226ST to my herd.
