Carry almost anywhere, open carry outside of incorporated cities. Mountains, skiing, hiking, hunting, fishing camping, and many other outdoor activities right at ones doorstep. Winter isn't all that long. Mostly a good place to live, even for someone who's not part of the local religion. Low crime rate. Job market isn't great, however I don't know squat about the availablity of IT jobs.
I love Arizona, and its gun culture almost can't be beat, but its damn hot during the summer. Lived in Yuma for 5 years.
Idaho has a good gun culture.
