This buying frenzy is rediculous

I ordered a Saiga AK about 30 minutes after I heard what the wacko in CT had done. Went to pick it up at Bud's on Wednesday and had to wait 2 hours just to get waited on!

Colt 6920s are going for over $3k right now. I'm tempted to sell mine (paid $1k) and just buy another in a few months when the insanity subsides.

Tell me about it, I work at a gun shop part time and we sold every AR type rifle we had. We even sold the hidious snake skin bushmaster that we joke about. On a good day we do about 7-8 grand...today 42,000. Peopere hording the pmags and we are now only limiting 1 per customer and I'm sure they will be gone soon. Thank god I'm not going back to that place until way after Christmas, these people are unbelievable.

I started to buy primers and AR stuff before the election took place. I had feared an Obama win. Now I wish that I had bought more mags and other hard to get items as well.
I don't think any of us anticipated anything like what's happening now

Went to my LGS today and it looked like they were having a going out of business sale. I have never seen the walls and shelves so empty. Crazy times

Unfortunately I just ot rid of a Sig 556 Patrol and Bushy 4 weeks ago as well as a stripped SW lower, so I was fresh out of AR type rifles. I went ahead and bit the bullet and bought a new Rock River complete lower with 6 pos stock and 2 stage match trigger (all factory) for $500. A bit too much since they list at the RR Website for $400, but not too bad. It was also the last one in stock.

I saw a RR complete lower with standard trigger that had a high bid for $775.00. SCAR 17 for $5200.00.

Just about every store in Panama City Fl is out of AR rifles.

Even Ruger 10-22s were going like hotcakes.

I just picked up at least 1 ar mag for 15 bucks from my landscaper and he may have a few more. He also picked up a case of AR and AK ammo, like 400 for the AR and 2 for the AK, I'll pick up 200 rounds from him, that gives me half a case at least, maybe more as I pick it up whenever it's on sale. I will not buy stuff that is inflated just for the sake of panic, if it comes my way I will take it.
Another friend sold a parts gun for 1,500, almost double what it cost him. This is going to peak soon so just hold tight, they will manufacture an overabundance of mags and parts like flash suppressors, and the market may dry up if the legislation bans using them.

The other problem is alot of the people buying up all these guns arent too educated with firearms, which equals more morons with guns,& more accidents.my friends neibor bought a shotgun during one of these panicks a few years ago, the idiot had it loaded in his walk in closet where his 10 & 12 year old could just walk in on it. his wife ripped him up, took the gun & sold it in a gun store. this is the tip of the iceberg for stupid newbe gun owners.....

Our LGSs have been swamped... folks who have never owned or shown an interest in guns are buying.

Same in my neck of the woods. I work at a gun shop and it has been absolutely insane. Last Monday night, we had 12 people still in line to buy stuff after we had closed and locked the doors. Normally Mondays are slow but not recently. Saturdays are even busier.

The free market/leech mentality is huge. I received a cold call yesterday from a company I purchased a lower from 4-5 years ago. They kindly informed me, that as a "preferred customer"(1 $85 lower many moons ago makes me preferred, I guess) they were holding a stripped lower for me, and I just had to pay them $225 for it.

The OP's premise is incorrect, to the extent it suggest that mags will become useless or obsolete. Regardless of future events, mags, specifically pmags, will always have vital utility.

Ruger GP100 is still priced right........if anything that's what i'll be picking up in the next week or two as a backup to my primary. my AR15 will sit in the safe, i'll shoot it from time to time, and probably have to forego shooting a hundred rounds each time until ammo comes around again.

we'll get some silly ban on 5.56, but i'm hopeful that rational folks in DC will throw in some loophole that allows .223. ban an AR and it'll surface again later with a different name.

and for the record, i'm still a member of the NRA and will be for the long run. i got duped in 2008 on a rifle, not gonna let it happen again this time.

oh, and last but not least, i'll be taking as many friends and friends' wives out plinking as that is probably one of the best contributions i can make to protecting the second amendment.

If you want to talk crazy come to Canada.
Ever since the talk of a possible US AWB and mag limits came up P Mags have even disappeared off of Canadian shelves.
We're talking 30 round P Mags pinned at 5 rounds!!!

Guess sometimes I get lucky, a few months ago I stopped at a gun/pawn shop. In a basket on counter was around 10 AR 30rd mags for a whopping $5.00 each. Yes I bought all he had. Last night I looked at one of the gun buy/sell places and could not believe what people were asking for these. Are people actually paying $40-70 for a mag?

Do you remember when the powder and primmer co. gave us a shortage on their stuff to get the prices up? lots of dumb so and so went our and bought like crazy and caused more of a shortage, well after about 3 mos the shortages were over with the hoarders had to eat their high prices stuff, course the primer and powder co's go their prices up.

Ditto. On one hand I'm glad people are buying because it supports 2A-related organizations and because it means the stuff will be more available post-ban, but I'm also very concerned about the "more newbs with firearms" aspect. I walked into two gun shops yesterday mostly out of curiosity and they were packed. The employees I did get a chance to say hi to were exhausted and chuckled when I mentioned how busy it was. "You should have been here a few days ago buddy." The semi-auto wall at one shop was almost empty apart from some bubba'd SKS rifles. The other shop I entered had just as many women there to purchase firearms as men. I barely got out alive with the Case pocket knife and Carhartt ladies wool socks I purchased for my parents for Christmas, and the exhausted clerk who rung me up even knocked a couple dollars off my purchase after I realized that I hadn't bought quite enough money with me rather than send me back through the crowded store to put the stuff back :D I've also tried to contact one firearm manufacturer and one distributor over the past week. No dice. It's nuts. How much are uppers going for right now? Just before Sandy Hook went down I purchased a .223 DPMS carbine-length upper with a gradual build in mind. If things are going nuts I may be just as well to sell it at a profit and buy an arsenal SKS until the panic blows over, I still know where to get a nice one for much less than what I paid for the upper let alone what they may be going for now. Can't hardly get a decent lower or ammo for my upper right now anyway, and I still have plenty of 7.62x39.

I just scored to p mags for about 18.99 each. My wife is headed in to pick them up now.

I needed one as my M&P since it only came with a 10 round mag and I am getting one for my BIL for Christmas.
