This could be the best exposure Pro-2nd Amendment folks get

The concept of Jury Nullification should be publicized more vigorously in cases such as this when the general consensus is that the punishment is totally unrealistic considering the alleged crime. I'm not a cannabis advocate, but I followed this local case closely http://www.secretsofthefed.com/nj-weedman-found-not-guilty-in-jury-nullification-victory/

The defendant didn't deny the charge, but he was able to communicate to the jury that they had the right to follow their conscience when, in their judgement, the law as applied was unfair and unusually harsh. Weedman is a very smart guy who outmaneuvered the judge who threatened him with contempt of court. South Jersey is not New York. I talk to people that would otherwise be considered anti-gun and they have a hard time with the blatant unfairness of this case. More on Jury Nullification here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jury_nullification#Fugitive_Slave_Law

It only takes one juror to make it work. Personally, I think the pressure will get the prosecutor to rethink the charge.

One juror would result in a hung jury, which would mean a mistrial, and the case would get tried again.

Maybe, but would the prosecutor want to incur the time and cost of another trial? In cases like this, I don't think so. They got the message and didn't retry Weedman.

Just heard that prosecutor changed his plan. She will be eligible for pretrial intervention. No jail time.

OK, I've got to step back for just a minute and think about this. A PA resident with a concealed carry license knows full well that Jersey does not honor. I would think they also know that there are no border states that honor our licenses. Maybe she forgot she had it. When I carry mine, I am acutely aware that I am carrying. Perhaps some aren't.

All of that said, her best strategy is to take the best plea deal she can get. The time is wrong for this to go to SCOTUS. Recently we only kept our 2nd amendment rights by one SCOTUS vote. As horrifying as that is, that suggests she'll lose with SCOTUS and set a very dangerous precedent.
