What a line of B S. Maybe if you are independently wealthy and can afford to replace any items taken by the intruder(s) , then huddling in the dark, hopeing the Bogey man will take what he wants and leave. (Not Likely)

If you are a devout Pacifist, or live in the PRK or similar locale where in order to take any defensive action against an Intruder, you have to be in the fartherest corner of your home with no exit through which to retreat further. May God have mercy on your soul if this is your circumstance.

My home is my Castle and inside it I am King. No, let me rephrase that, I am Judge, Jury, and Executioner. If you enter my Castle without my consent, I will not yell out to you that I am armed, that I have called the Police, that I have a dog or any other such nonsense. The first indication you will have that your nighttime plans have gone awry will be when you see the muzzle blast, which will most likely be the last sight you see. I will call 911 and calmly tell them that an Intruder attacked me after being warned I was armed and left me no choice. (You won't be able to refute my statements since by then you will be taking the proverbial DIRT NAP. My only regret may be that I will likely have to replace the carpet in the room where the encounter took place.

No Brag, Just Fact

JPM70535:cool: My sentiments exactly.

But let me add that if you have a family and everbody is waiting in the "saferoom" for the BG to enter you are exposing them to possible danger. No thanks, I know my own home even in pitch darkness. I'll follow the Marines' philosophy by locating, closing with and destroying the enemy.
As for our "expert", his company has a financial stake in keeping you helpless. If he can BS the sheep into not taking personal responsibility for their own safety he expands the potential market for his services. The more frightened they are, the more money they'll dole out to this jack@$$ to "keep them secure".

I love how he states that if surprised, a burlar may respond violently.

In my house, if I surprise a burglar, I expect him to respond to the force of gravity pulling his perforated carcass to the ground.

"Your or your family are more likely to be injured when carrying a weapon..."

Nope.

I can't find my bar chart, but Prof. Gary Kleck of Florida State says that people who resist (no weapon) are less likely to be injured than those who don't resist at all. Kleck's best-case scenario? Resistance with a firearm. Only 17% are injured (and some of those are hurt before their gun comes into play).

The only way that we will ever be able to shut these "experts" up is to hold them accountable when their advice causes the death of one or more innocents.

Why such a lawsuit has not already happened is beyond my limited understanding.

The "you or your family" thing is a bastardization of the data. Didn't it originate from surveys that had one related question: "Was the victim a relative or acquaintance of the offender?" Obviously, acquaintances range from the victims' SOs to some hoodlums they might meet in a bar.

Regardless, rape data suggest that victims who resist more, even without weapons, tend to be victims of more brief offenses and are not as likely to get more seriously (physically) hurt.

The "don't resist and you won't get hurt" crap is hysterical liberal nonsense.

In Arkansas, the laws are good. As the police officer instructing at my CCW said, "In Arkansas, if a person breaks into your home, he's bought and paid for..."

I have always loved that phrase, "...bought and paid for...":D
