MORELAND, Idaho -- A gruesome discovery in an Idaho home, a family of four has been found shot to death. It happened 13 miles west of Blackfoot in Bingham County.
Detectives believe Donald Booth killed his wife and two kids and then turned the shotgun on himself inside this eastern Idaho home. The family had only lived in Idaho for about four months.
Investigators want to know what may have caused a Moreland man to kill his wife and two kids before turning the gun on himself.
The Booth family - father Donald, Mother Michelle and four-year-old Sailor and two-year-old Wesley were found dead Tuesday in their home.
A Bingham County Sheriff's deputy made the discovery yesterday when he stopped by the home to do a welfare check.
The officer saw a dead body in the living room of the home.
"It was a gunshot, a 410 shotgun was used and the one child and the father was in the living room, one child was on the stairs going to the upstairs bedroom and the wife was in the upstairs bedroom," said Bingham County Sheriff Dave Johnson.
NewsChannel 7 learned today that a family member had called the house Monday evening and talked to Michelle.
That same family member then called the sheriff's office Tuesday morning to request that a welfare check be done.
Eleven detectives from Bingham County and the Blackfoot Police Department are working the case.
The family moved to Idaho from California in recent months.
