I called Beretta USA, Techinical Service a few moments ago speaking with Randy regarding which brand of shells to use in the new Blackwing. At this time, Beretta advised against using Remington Hevi Shot in any current production shotgun barrel.

This may change when the new back bored barrels come out week of 02/15/03.

This has been their stance since hevi-shot came out, and they are not the only company with that position.. Bear in mind that it may scratch the barrel but will not actually do any serious damage to the gun. Beretta is telling you that they will not replace the barrels because of this scratching. Take a ride over to www.waterfowler.com, read the factory ammo forum. This has been discussed in EXCRUCIATING detail.

And it is about time the spaghetti guns started getting back bored barrels, they are only about 6or 8 years late:rolleyes: .

Hevi Shot does scratch bbls. This is a cosmetic problem, and does not affect longevity.

IMO, ti's another reason for chromed bores on waterfowlers....
