"Beginning October 1, 2005 the Georgia Concealed Weapons Permit no longer qualifies as alternative to a National Instant Background check (NICS) The ATF notified the Georgia Bureau of Investigation that Georgia no longer met the qualifications. The GBI was given till September 30, 2005 to comply and have failed to do so."
Just got this in an e-mail from my gun club secretary. There's a gun show this weekend and this just stinks! Normally I can buy without the background check by showing my CCW . . . not this weekend!
My first reaction is to be ticked off at the GBI, but I got to wondering. Has the ATF made some changes that are difficult/impossible to comply with so that GA and maybe other states are not able to meet the requirements. That way ATF could get around the laws our legislature passed using beaurocracy.
Anyone know anything about this?
