When I take my son downtown (Nashville) for events, (circus, hockey, etc.)
I sometimes take my wife's vehicle. A few months ago I was getting my carry out of my car - as I always do - and my son (6) said

"Dad, why do you always get you gun out of your car when we go downtown?"

I told him "in case we run into bad guys we want to be prepared to protect ourselves".

He then said "why don't we just beat 'em up real good"?

I told him - "well what if they have a knife or a gun?"

and he thought for a moment and said

"Ohhhh - I get it now"

BTW - He's been shootin' with me a few times. I can already see his respect for firearms...
