Thompson Contender Barrel "Caps".

Recently purchased some Thompson Contender barrels - one in caliber 44 Mag and another in caliber 45 Colt/410. Both have screw-on "chokes" at the end of the barrels for shot loads. If I remove the chokes to shoot bullets, I have threads exposed inside the ends of the barrels. I understand there are some threaded caps that fit on the end of the barrels to protect the threads when the chokes are off.

Anybody know what they call those "caps" and where can I get them?

I have been using a 44 Hot Shot barrel for 30 years and have never had a problem with the threads. I have never heard of the "caps", can't see a need for them. When I run out of Hot Shot 44 capsules I'll just go on using it for bullets. The capsules in 44 have been out of production for a number of years. I'm down to fewer than 300.

You can more than likely find a tread protector from most anyone that sells suppressors. Know what your tread pattern and size is needed. OR try T/C and see if they have one for you.

It's an internal thread.
I shot my friend's .44 mag hot shot barrel yesterday with some light wadcutter loads.
I've never heard of a thread protector for them. You use anti-seize or grease to protect the threads when shooting without the choke. There's more maintenance than a standard barrel, you have to clean out the grease often and replace it. a light coat of fresh grease anytime you put the choke back in.
