Wow, how unfortunate for his family. I've read many of Dave's posts here on the forum related to shotguns as my shotguns are my favorite firearms. He was very articulate and well-mannered, and his influence will be missed greatly here on the boards. He must have been a fantastic individual to know personally. My prayers are with his family.

I have not logged on in a while and this is the first I am seeing this.

I've never met or corresponded with Mr McCracken but I have learned a lot from his posts.

RIP

I too have missed seeing this thread. So sorry for the family. The world has lost a fine contributor to life. Let this be a reminder for us that we all need to be a contributor during the short time we are on this earth. I will miss you Dave!

I can't begin to express the shock at learning about the passing of my dear friend Dave McCracken. I first met Dave back in 1992 I believe. Dave and I met on the old Prodigy Archery Bulletin board. Back when 2400 baud rate was king. Dave and I shared a love and passion for Archery and we soon became fast friends once we discovered we only lived 20 minutes apart!

Dave was a stickbow guy and I was a compound fanatic, but we sure had a lot of fun hunting together.

One time Dave had picked a spot to hunt on a farm I leased and he was sure it was a big buck spot so a few days later I went in and put some fake rubs and scrapes out and he hunted a few days later and was telling me on the radio that there were giant rubs all around his stand. We both laughed so hard when I told him what I had done. The funny thing is when I walked in there there were more big rubs and tracks all through the mock scrapes I had made.

I could tell you a 1,000 Dave stories. Dave and I also hunted geese, turkey, and did a lot of fishing together on the Chesapeake Bay.

I started a bow company 2 years ago and Dave and I kind of lost touch, but last January Dave and I hunted together on Maryland's Eastern Shore and we talked about old times and just had a great hunt together.

Dave had a Benelli with him and I had my bow and while we didn't get any deer it sure was good to spend some quality time together in the woods with my old friend Dave.

Dave I can't express enough the sorrow I feel right now. You will be missed my friend and I will always be grateful we were friends. May God Bless you Dave and may God Bless and keep Rachel, Sarah, and Benjamin.

Love your friend Steve!

I just learned of Dave's death today. What awful news. I know little of him but from his posts in the shotgun section. What a knowledgeable gentleman he was. I know he will be greatly missed.

Oh my, I am sorry to hear this for him and his family. I knew him from another forum I've been a member of for years.
