Thoughts for a new Walther .380

Ever since I bought my P22 I've been thinking that it would be nice to see Walther create a new .380 to replace the PPK in the same size/design as the P22. Has anyone heard if they have any plans to do this? Or is the PPK such a figurehead for them that they won't replace that niche with a newer pistol?

I doubt they'll do anything about a 380, at least in the US.

The problem for the 380, is that it's being overtaken by technology. Why buy a 380, when you can have a 9mm or even a 40 caliber that's as small or smaller?

Many of Kahr's guns are actually smaller than the PPK, and far more powerful.

bigger caliber is not always better in a small gun.

Small gun + big bullet = killer recoil

I just got a Bersa .380, and quite like it. The price was really good too. While I was checking it out, i handled the PPK/S as well. Overall, the guns are really similar. However, the DA trigger on the PPK/S is HORRIBLE! If Walther came out with a new .380 with a better trigger than the PPK/S, I'd love to have one. Strangely enough, a lot of the guns I want are .380's....

Walther quit making the PPK and PPK/S in 1999. The PPK is so small that it is hard to manage in a .380. It is best in a 7.65 mm or .32. The PPK/S, however, has a longer grip and is pretty good as a .380. The problem is if you have one made in America, it is a jammomatic. I used to have one. I do have a German PPK/S and it is very reliable. It's my summer carry gun. I doubt Walther will be making anything in .380 any more.
