I'm thinking about picking up a Don Hume JIT holster for 2 reasons:

#1 - It fits every Glock 9mm model I own
#2 - I'm on a holiday budget and it's priced right for me.

Here's the link to it at Gunner's Alley, where I'm think of buying it:

Called and spoke to one of the guys there and they have both black and brown models for the Glock 9 and 40 models on hand.

Anyone have experience with this holster before I pull the trigger?

Thanks in advance for any input.

Don Hume

I have a JIT slide for my Kahr PM9 and T9. They keep the gun tight to your body, and you don't know it's there. I also have their IWB. They are both excellent holsters, and I bought mine from Gunners Alley also. Best buy for the buck!

Every time I get a new handgun, I get a Don Hume JIT for it, just to have something to put it in until I find the "perfect holster." Most times I never find that elusive beast, and I just stick with the Don Hume.

Good holsters, great price.

The warning I would give you, if you haven't used a "slide type" holster before, is to be careful of the muzzle when you sit down in an arm chair. It is probably not much of a deal with a G26/27, but bit a longer barreled gun like a G17/22 or G34/35, you have a chance of hitting the muzzle on the arm of a chair and launching your pistol out of the holster.

I have a few JIT slides in my "holster box", and for some reason I never cared for them. If I had one that would suit your needs I'd be happy to give it to you. ;)

I use one with my 26 when I want an OWB holster. Just buy it, you won't regret it.

To ClemsonAl, toivo, HexHead, and S.B - Thanks for the replies and opinions.

To JTQ - I hadn't thought of that possibility, but you bring up a very good point.

To RUT - Thanks for your gracious offer, but I went ahead and grabbed one from Gunner's Alley

I've got a black one on order so I'll try to post some pics and an opinion when it arrives.

Thanks again for all the insight.

Sean

I've not used that specific holster, but a thing to be careful about in general with open toed holsters that don't cover the whole slide, is whether the front sight will snag on the draw.

I hope the JIT works out for you. Mine fit too tight, after repeated attempts to break it in. After leaving the pistol in the holster for a week, still no easy release so I went with something else. I have much respect for Don Hume, I too used the River Holster back in the day . I was not able to make it work for me, your result will be different.

I have one Hume JIT and also a couple of the Hume H710 'First Agent' holsters. Same maker, same price, same advantage of fitting all similar models regardless of barrel length. The difference is that the H710 simply has the belt loop forward of the gun while the JIT has it directly behind. Personally, I prefer the way the H710 sits to the JIT. That being said, the JIT is probably going to retain it's form for considerably longer because the "gun area' doesn't flex around nearly so much.

Right now I'm carrying regularly mainly in a High Noon 'Slide Guard' OWB open top but I still sometimes use the H710 on occasion, depending on my needs for the day, lazyness, etc. The thing is, even though they do flex and lose their shape and stiffness.. they do function just fine and I could have bought five of them for the same price as the one High Noon.

For comparison's sake, here's the link for the H710 'First Agent' on the same site as your original link

Frankly if you're definitely going with an open bottom Hume, for $30 each (or less) I'd recommend getting one of each of both the JIT and H710.

I like my Don Hume iwb holster. It fits my sp101 perfectly and and draws/reholsters nice too.

You might check out fobus paddle holsters on amazon.com. I am old school and prefer leather...but dang, for an owb holster with good retention/quick draw/reholster/price....it cant be beat. I bought my first one for the sp101. And likwd it so well that I got another for my 1911. About $25.

I just picked up a Don Hume JIT in brown from Gunner's alley. I've only worn it out once and it did pretty good. It allows for a pretty smooth draw and it doesn't really have a break in period. For the money it is hard to beat. I haven't tried it with my Glock 26 yet, but I think I may like it even better for that.
