I am a new member just joined today, and I have been using reman ammo for awhile now. I have had no issues with it, but have seem mixed reviews about using it on other sites!

I have used a lot of Freedom Munitions. Out of countless rounds, the only issue I had was one primer coming loose and binding my trigger. Now, I just reman my own ;) Most of it comes down to buying from a reputable source.
Makes sense I just received some reman .300 blackout in the mail it came from American Marksman. I inspected it, and found one out of 250rds with a bad primer, seem to have a good eye, but that was a first for me!

I don't know about other brands, but I have never had issues with Black Hills re-manufactured 223 or 9mm and it has been some of the most accurate I have experienced.

I have used many thousands of reman rounds from several sources including Freedom Munitions, Fed Arm and others. Never a single problem. Mostly 9 mm but also some .45 ACP. all FMJ. As of now for range shooting it is all I will buy unless someone selling new beats the price. That happens but not very often. Right now the only new I know of that can beat good prices for reman on Ammoseek is Sellier and Beloit. It seems to be discounted lots of places.

It saves me money in the long run using reman ammo, the wifey has put me on a budget now she says I have built way to many AR's! HAHA!;)

I’ve used reman ammo from LAX, Zero, and a few other no-name ammo assemblers for years. I’ve been lucky, I can’t recall getting bad ammo.

Manufacturer new is not 100% either, I still have some Winchester 115 gr FMJ 9mm that had a batch with no flash holes, and I have one Federal Gold Medal match 223 round with a reveresed primer that made its way into a box of ammo.

Like everything else, check what you have before you shoot and you’ll usually spot bad stuff before it makes it into your gun.

Stay safe!

It's been a long time since I used reman ammo. I've used black hills for 9mm 115, 124 and 147. Split a case with a friend then reloaded all of them.
I only buy ammo in order to make my own find it performs better in my guns.

I guess I’m lucky. I have no idea what performing better in my guns means.

I've had very good luck with these guys. They have a table at most gun shows in NW GA and I usually pick up some ammo when I go to a show. Not sure it is worth the price if paying shipping.

Same here. Better than most of the original-manufacturer stuff.
Maybe I'm lucky, but I haven't had any issues at all with anything reman. Then again, I don't buy from the ones that look like they operate from their garage.

Welcome to THR! :)

I have only had limited experience with reman ammo. That was with Octane Munitions out of, IIRC, Utah. And that was with 300 BO. No problems with them so far.

Years ago, OK, maybe decades ago, I got a bad batch of .380 from a company called Alberts. Terrible stuff: uneven loads, some complete duds with bullets stuck in the barrel, filthy powder, etc.

Never touched reloads again. The price of new, especially with steel cased ammo, is such that the cost is too close to make a difference. At shows, some tables actually charge more for reloads than what you can get new for.

Still have a few boxes of those Alberts sitting around. They were ahead of their time in one aspect, they just dumped 50 rounds into a cheap unfinished brown paper box, no dividers. The birth of the bulk pack. lol

Since I started in police work in 1973.. using re-man ammo was just what we did for practice and qualifying - all with revolvers in that era... Calling what my City issued us junk was an understatement... but it did teach us how to clear jams, how to load rounds while looking at them closely to see whether they would even fit in the cylinder (all wadcutter .38 ammo bought in box loads, loose) and deal with all the other issues that bad ammo can just make worse.... All of this while going through courses of fire that were timed and limited to the allotted time per stick...

Seriously ugly re-loads (to save money, of course...) that fouled up any revolver very quickly (made learning to clean your sidearm a serious deal...). I know that there's a lot of quality re-manufactured ammo out there - but that isn't what we were issued for practice, etc. For me.. it made me very determined to only load quality ammo for my own use - and for the street, period. Not a bad way to function... Years later when we switched out to auto pistols the problem still remained until someone finally figured out that it was more cost effective to spend a bit more money and provide some better quality rounds for training purposes... For a few years late in my career I was actually in charge of training for my 100 man agency - and you can bet I paid attention to the issue to make sure that beginning officers - and in-service officers at every skill level had decent ammo to practice/qualify with....

I've been out of police work for more than 23 years now - but this topic directly brought back some of the frustrations I had all those years ago... not something I'll ever forget...

It depends on who is loading it. Not unlike new ammunition, except it is a lot easier to QC all new components.

I know a small manufacturer that loaded 50,000 +/- rounds a day that went from great to shut down with the loss of one person.

If you only let a good product reach customers, they will keep buying from you. If you let crap out the door, repeat customers are not something you will have, word of mouth against you will travel fast and will linger upon your name long after you have reconciled the problem, even if you do.

That’s the reason why QC departments exist, in successful businesses.

Before I started reloading I shot a lot of remanufactured ammo. Still do on occasion at indoor ranges. Most of it was good ammo. I have bought some cruddy no-name reman ammo at gun shows, but that was 20-25 years ago. Every time I have bought reman’d ammo that came from a manufacturer that proudly displays their name on their ammo boxes I haven’t encountered bad ammo. It sure wasn’t premium target ammo but it was good ammo.

I don't use remanufactured ammo or reloaded ammo sold at gun shows or even from gun shops. Thats just me. Some of my Prairie Dog hunting buddies buy their ammo from a custom loader that uses new cases and it seems to be good stuff.

Never a problem with any of the reman ammo from Black Hills. It looks and performs like it's brand new ammo, extremely reliable, and is fairly accurate too!

Have had good luck with both LAX and Freedom. Had one batch of LAX 223 ammo that was recalled. I'd shot about 200 rounds of the 1000 I purchased. LAX replaced it with another 1000 rounds after sending back what I had. Quick and easy to work with and gives me plenty of brass for reloading my own.
