I have the "carry-strap" slings on all my rifles. I mostly consider them as carrying straps, but I will sometimes use them to brace and steady myself for a bit of help. Not as good as a real sling, but whatever. It helps a bit.

I recently made my own out of para-cord...it looks pretty decent but I would not recommend it unless you have a lot of time to kill. It took forever to braid...but on the other hand is a handy piece of kit. It has about 100ft of 550 cord, so in case of an emergency/survival situation I can use it for fishing (inner cores), building shelter, a short rope, et cetera. It's really handy stuff to keep on hand...I also added a little to the folding stock (for a cheek rest/survival) on my pack 10/22, and have plans to add a bit more to all of my "field rifles" for such uses. :)

Thanks for the info...I may just go that route. Is it comfortable?

Well, for carrying there are much better choices. It also depends on how much the rifle weighs. The (I think) 1 1/2" wide webbing doesn't really spread out the weight of a heavy rifle on your shoulder very well. The rifles I have the TI slings on go in a drag bag if I've gotta carry them for any real distance. But when you're in position and slinged-up, they're very comfortable. I prefer the feel of the way they sling to a conventional two-point sling. If I had to choose carrying comfort over slinged-up stability, I'd go for a hunting sling with a wide shoulder-pad. The TI slings are also pretty exspensive ( I believe about $65 - IMO a lot for some webbing and some buckles ), but ya gotta spend money on something I suppose!

Money is not the problem, but I don't want to squander in on something that I will end up not liking [not having used one]. Also, I am not a sniper and therefore do not see the need for a drag bag (not knocking you or any other users, they have their place, just not with me). The rifle very likely will never see any service hunting, but I may take it with me while on foot (not hiking though). I think I will put off the QC sling as I already have a SuperSling II ready for service on the new rifle. If I turn out to dislike it I can always find something else. Thanks for the input Karl. :)

I use a quick adjust two point on my 5.56 AR (VTac), I wear the sling over my left shoulder. I'm left eyed, and therefore left handed with rifles. I still shoot handguns right, wearing the sling on my left shoulder seems to work best for me when transitioning to my handgun or switching shoulders (which I do practice).

Single point on my 9mm and 22 AR. I'd prefer a two point, but money is tight, and the single point works well enough for my plinkers.

Tried the three point koolaid for a little while, didnt care much for it.

I only use wide (cobra) style padded slings. Leather slings only on wood stocks and cordura/other on synthetic stocks. All on Q/D swivels.
