Thoughts on Ruger LC9s

I'm still going to make a video but here's just one of many of examples of folks easily breaking this gun down.

Not the way I do it but it's still just a few seconds...

Thanks. The techniques shown for pushing the slide one handed were helpful. One should mention that was the LC9, not the S I’m guessing, because he didn’t have to pull the trigger before disassembling. With the LC9S the half-cocked striker has to be released before taking the slide off.

When mine was new I could just pull the slide back to the notch and just tap it on my other palm and the pin would fall out. Now I have to push it out with a paper clip or something. Not bad but it would be nice to be able to take down with no tools or a pin to take out.

I wonder what, if anything, that indicates? Some subtle changing or warping of dimensions? I almost bought an LC9S Pro but ended up deciding that trigger was just too light and short for my comfort level with no safety. I do also feel more comfortable with pistols that have steel sub-frames and/or rails. Irrationally, perhaps. But I am drawn to the LC9S. Probably will pick up an EC9S because the price is hard to ignore and I do like Rugers (single actions).

Well I stopped up to visit my father at his camp. We headed out to the little general store nearby. Coolest store has everything you need and nothing you don't . The have a healthy selection of guns. They happened to have a LC9s and a kahr k9. I handled both and must say I don't really like the feel of the Ruger (decent trigger though). However I LOVE the K9.

Kudos to the fellows that suggested kahrs. The K9 is the same size as the CW9. But now I'm torn do I pick up a cw9 back at my LGS for 350-380 or do I go back to the general store a buy that K9. They're asking 550 (they usually have wiggly room on price). Also it's Bitone stainless frame and black slide. Really slick looking. Ohhh the decisions uhgggg!

Is the PRO trigger shorter than the one with the safety? 'Cause no one would ever call the regular LC9S trigger short. I thought the only reason Ruger was willing to offer a version without the safety was because the trigger was so much like on a DA revolver. But that's just me.

I think it’s just dirty with fouling and grit. It does have a steel sub frame and rail. I posted a picture a couple pages back of it removed from the grip.

I don’t think the trigger is any different between them. The trigger travel is significantly shorter than any double action hammer fired gun I’ve shot. If it doesn’t work for you perhaps it’s not the right gun. I would suggest trying a sig p365. Trigger is excellent with a short trigger travel and reset. A bit heavier than an lc9s. I think they hit the nail on the head with that one.

Fair enough and thanks for the tip. Right now I have the aftermarket replacement trigger kit ordered for the LC9s. I honestly can’t resist an experiment.
