I am considering a Ruger P345 for concealed carry/SD. What are everyone's thoughts. It has an 8 round magazine, polymer frame, relative light weight. I would imagine it is reliable like all of my other Ruger handguns (have 3 others). I just would like some opinions, especially from those that have compared to other brands. If you are against, please tell why and what you would recommend.

I bought a railed model (KP345PR) about 10 mos or so ago and started carrying it. Been carrying it ever since. Recently ran across a used non railed (KP345) model for a good price and bought it. It has now taken over carry duties and the railed model with a streamlight is now the bedside gun.

Both have been utterly reliable and extremely accurate. I regularly shoot with a fellow who is a die hard 1911 fan and has some very high $$ guns. He regularly comments that my guns shoot as well or better than guns that cost him 3 times as much.

Excellent weapon with this caveat: if you have larger hands, and are used to/comfortable with the P90, the P345 will point differently. I cured this with a Hogue Hand-All.

Mine was very accurate, and soft shooting. A little chunky for ccw, for me, but an exellent shooter:)

Reliable - yes, mine has been.

Feeds anything including Winchester Ranger just fine.

For ccw it's a little big, a little heavy... But it has a very flat profile which can be nice - I've carried mine in the inner vest pocket of my winter jacket (the wallet pocket) and it rode there very inconspicuously.

I like the decocker model. P345d

Mine is used primarily as a nightstand gun, decocked with round chambered.

I recently shot a rental P345 against my pet Para Black Watch Companion LDA. As much as I LOVE my little Para, the groups were clearly better with the Ruger P345.

However, recoil was a bit sharper. The Ruger is a few ounces lighter, although both guns are very thin. The traditional double action of the bigger Ruger made the gun more reliable to shoot in rapid fire (shorter trigger recent), but also introduced more muzzle flip. I had to to use a very strong grip to keep the Ruger from hurting my hands--not as much with the Officer sized Para LDA.

Will I trade the Para BWC? Not sure yet, but it's hard to argue with improved (for me) human engineering that shows up down range as improved accuracy.
