So my LGS got in a couple of pitted slightly rust French milsurps. Just curious what you guys think a fair price might be and any info about these firearms.

This first one is a French Mas... that's about all I know. Not sure of the caliber/chambering. The rear sight is rusted in place (won't move up or down) and there is light pitting on the reciever and barrel. Rifling is crisp, not pitting in the barrel. 20170426_105915.jpg 20170426_105922.jpg 20170426_110339.jpg 20170426_110356.jpg
Gun number 2 is a MLE (I think?). The barrel has some surface rust near the front sight, chipped stock by the butt plate, putting on the top of the barrel... she's a little rough. The Rifling is crisp as well and not pitting inside the barrel.

Any thoughts or info is appreciated!

MAT 36 is in 7.5x54 French, small carbine appears to be an Berthier 8mm Lebel in same caliber. Since they look complete and unmolested $150-200 for the MAS and 200-300 for the Berthier in that condition. Not too much interest in French Calvary carbines in their hared to find calibers.

The Berthier is missing the front barrel band, would that decrease it's value? All number match on both rifles except for the trigger guards on both rifles.

First off what are they asking for each gun? When I buy them dirty, I try and get them cheap.
I picked up two Lebels not long ago for $600. They were asking $1000.
The asking price is just a starting point to go down from.
Your first offer, you low ball. That is because they will counter your offer with more then you offered but less then the marked price. If you can live with the counter offer, ask if that is the price out the door. You would be surprised you and say yes.
The MAS36 is worth $200 to $300
The Berthier is a model 1916 carbine and should be chambered in 8x50R and is worth about $250.
