We're just two weeks away now, so I'm posting a little more info. First, a repeat of the old info:
primary attraction will be hanging out shootin tha breeze, as we say in TN but there will be
> 900 yrd private range
> 20-30 steel swinging targets at various ranges, plus an old school bus at the 900 yrd line
> at least 1 case of tannerite
> plenty of room for tossing clays, but no target thrower. bring one if you want
facilities will be minimal, so bring something to sit on, a shooting mat or tarp, a day's worth of hydration, sun screen, etc. range is 5 miles from the interstate and dozens of restaurants (bathrooms) etc. we have quite a few target stands for paper targets, but you may want to bring your own if you don't want to share. you will definitely want to bring your own paper targets unless you plan to only shoot steel.
there are 2 walmarts and 3 gun stores within 10 mile radius so you can probably buy extra ammo if you run out.
some other things you may want to bring:
spotting scope
can of paint (white or orange) for spraying steel targets
if it's convenient, a 4-wheeler. (we'll have 1 or 2 which are used to go repaint or hang targets, but a couple extra ones would be handy. PM me if you've got one. we don't want 20 people showing up with them though.)
now, new stuff:
I need opinions on which restaurant we should meet at Friday night. Two choices are one that serves alcohol (cheap, bland food, but good atmosphere for cutting up and carrying on) or one that doesn't (slight improvement to food and you can CCW, but not open as late). I don't care personally, but figured I ought to ask if either is a problem for anyone.
Directions to the range:
Take I-40 east or west to exit 286 (Willow Avenue).
Go south on Willow (right turn if coming from the west, left turn if coming from the east) for about 5.5 miles. On your right, you will see a field with a small wooden shed and several cars parked in the field. Drive through the gate in the fence and park in the grass.
Note, at around 4.5 miles, there is a fork in the road and signs for Burgess Falls state park pointing to the left. Follow the road to the right, which is "Cookeville Boat Dock rd". The range is almost exactly 1 mile past the fork.
PM me if you want the address to look up in google maps or for your GPS.
Also PM me and I'll provide my cell phone in case anyone comes late for dinner or whatever.
And just generally PM me so I can get an idea of how many are coming.
Last, plan on tossing $20 into the THR insurance pot, but there are no range fees.
