Hi all,

I have a Llama 380 IIIA (made in 1982) in great shape. I duracoated it about a year ago. I keep it clean and lubed. It's a great little carry gun. It's the mini-1911 style. It's much like the MicroMax.

I have noticed people rack guns with ease and this little 380 that I have is hard to rack. I mean I can do it and I'm not a wimp but compared other pistols that i have racked it's tight. I use the "hold the slide and push the frame of the gun foward" style rather than pull the slide back.

My question is, is that normal on this gun or any 1911 or should I look into a lighter spring (if available) or use one from a MicroMax or bring it to a gunsmith? Its shoots and feeds fine.

Here are some pics of it.

Those little guns seem hard to rack in my experience. The spring has to be heavier as there is less mass in the slide to resist the recoil impulse and they are using the spring to control it. I believe you could get a slightly weaker spring but you will possibly cause early slide/gun wear by the battering in recoil.
