I posted before that I got a used Tikka T3 pretty cheap. Today I got out to the range in spite of the cold weather, 22 degrees, and a cool breeze. First I shot at 25 yards and those shots were promising but I was concerned about my Weaver scope. I took it to 100 yards. The first two shots were wide left, between them I made an elevation adjustment. I could not see the next 3 shots. Scope not clear enough for these old eyes, so I shot at the top of the circle.
First shot on the money, second low right just over a half inch, the third shot I also could not see. Baffled I got my target. Turns out the 3 I could not see were 1 top of center dot and 2 in the black ring in a group .57 hundredths of an inch. The third shot of the top group must have gone into the same hole as the first shot. A fluke I am sure. That group measured .61 inches. But still 2 groups under 3/4 of an inch on a less than ideal day, I am extremely happy with my new Tikka. This is a lite model, not a varmint version. The caliber is 7-08. It doesn't kick much at all, and with this accuracy in a light gun I think I found the perfect deer rifle.

Sounds like you have a shooter. I know my Tikka T3 Lite in .270 Win is very accurate also. It's the perfect rifle for deer hunting. It's light, accurate, amazing trigger, and has the best synthetic stock in its price range.

Congrats OP glad you are happy with it.

Yup, it shoots, the ammo is Hornady whitetail. There isn't much to choose from around here but it seems good.

Congrats.

I've read a lot of positive things about Tikkas, so I recently bought my first (a CTR), and have been very impressed with it.

Good choice of cartridge, too. ;)

This was shot with my Tikka T3 CTR. I'm still working on an optimal load.

There is vertical stringing which I get fairly frequently so it's probably my fault. Four of the 5 shots formed a pretty small group.

I own 2, used to own 3....all tack drivers. not high dollar guns but one of the smoothest actions I have ever used. only reason I sold one cause I had another rifle in that caliber and it was to a friend.

d2wing, you lucky Northwoods trigger puller. :what: Just wait until I get my Featherlight, BG this Texan will show you how us rebel boys do it. :neener: Nice rifle you dog.

That is good to know. I am glad I did not buy a cheap fixer upper.

Tikka T3 Light

The only complaint I have with my .243 T3 Light is that I didn't get the Hunter model with Walnut stock. The Light shoots the 70 grain bullets very well, under an inch and the 100 grain bullets at or just over 1 inch.I need to work with it a little more.Otherwise it's my most accurate rifle of all. hdbiker
