I saw on CenterfireGuns.com that Tikka T3X rifles are in stock. I've been waiting for these bad boys to hit the streets and I know there was some uncertainty if/when they would be sold in the USA. I am looking for a 6.5 Swede with a stainless/fluted barrel and walnut stock. Top with a nice Leupold and it should be an excellent deer rifle.

For those of you who don't know, the T3X is an improved version of the T3. The biggest change is that the ejection port has been enlarged.

I saw that they have a modular/adjustable grip? I didn't read much about it but that concerned me a bit. Curious if it's going to be a weak spot or prone to damage in the field.

And of course they made the bolt shroud metal from the factory. They were adamant that the plastic shroud of the "older" T3 would never be a problem, but they gave the people what they asked for anyway. Works for me.

I have a Tikka T3X Lite .223 with synthetic stock, stainless steel barrel and a Zeiss Terra 4-12x scope. It performed well out of the box. I got it as an all purpose rifle for around the homestead and for recreational shooting.

T3X 223 twist rate

Woodnik, what is the twist rate on your 223 T3X? Thanks

1:8" - I haven't put enough ammo through it yet to know what weight bullet it prefers, but I'm guessing a heavier bullet.
I noticed Tikka twist rates and barrel lengths all seem to be a bit slower/longer than what's typical for the same calibers here America. For instance, the 223 with its 1:8 twist. Their 308 rifles are 1:11 with a 22.5" (close enough) barrel.

What gives?

I thought Tikka twist offerings were shorter than most common comparable rifles. Also IIRC, on the Tikka site there's a spec sheet of all combinations of muliple twist rates per caliber, trigger types, etc. Of course it might be difficult to get some of the specific combinations of features in the USA, depending on what Beretta will import.

Is this the same rifle that was published by a gun magazine? It comes in .308 and has no sights. It costs $900.

Whats the difference between this new rifle and the old Tikka 3 Lite in 30.06?
The Tikka 3 Lite has such a fine bolt action feel.

I like that they opened up the ejection port so single loading a round is easier. I wonder how they are different from the Sako rifles. It says they use a Sako barrel and the action on a tikka seems smooth and high quality.

I have a Beretta Tikka 3 Lite in 30.06 and am very happy with the accuracy 1 inch groupings at 100 yards.
