I got a desire for a rifle in .223. I had Tikka T3 years ago, but sold when I had a rough patch in life. Now Sako/Tikka came up with T3x, which seems to be an improved version of T3. I like the specs very much: steel bolt shroud, weighs less than 6 lbs, improved stock, and the 1:8 twist is back. Has anyone seen one in person? How did you like it? TIA

I think Whittakers said they would be $26 more in their store than the T3's.

Also, the standard T3x lites aren't less than 6 lbs, they are about the same weight as the T3's at 6.6 lbs to 7 lbs depending on configuration/chambering.

Thanks. My old Tikka T3 in .223 weighed 6.2 lbs with empty mag. On Tikka website, it says the same caliber T3x weights 5.9 lbs. Can be an error. But the 1:8 twist is a plus. I am only interested in .223 for plinking. Will check Whittakers.

What model are you looking at? The pdf's on Tikka's website that list rifle specs show 3 - 3.2 kg for all chamberings of the standard lite and stainless lite T3x's. I think the superlite Tikkas with the fluted barrels get down to, or slightly below 6 lbs, but they are special editions.

My son has this one Tikka T3X Lite Stainless 7MM-08 (JRTXB352) haven't shot it.I have two T3 I think the T3x is an improvement but the T3 is a good gun.If I found a regular T3 in a caliber and a price I liked I wouldn't wait on a T3X.That being said I will most likely buy a T3x if the powers at Beretta bring it in a model and caliber I want and that can be a big if with them.
