Folks, I am saving up for a scope. I need one to replace the scope on my precision rifle (duty gun). I have a Kahles 3-12x56, but it's not what I want or need for the job.

After much research (and determining that I cannot afford US Optics or a Schmidt & Bender ) I have narrowed it down to two choices.

Leupold LR/T, with illuminated reticle

or

Nightforce NXS.

Which one, and why? Let 'er rip.

I have found myself asking

the same question. any one have any experience with Nightforce.

Voted Leupold. Why? Lots of positive experience with Leupolds both for long range targets and hunting. No experience with Nightforce. If it ain't broke ...

I'll watch this thread, however, to see who weighs in for Nightforce, especially if someone does so based on comparative data.

I'm pretty sure he didn't mean US optics as in optics produced in the US, but was refering to the company, US Optics

For a duty rifle either would be fine. Heck a lot less scope would be fine for a duty gun. A 4.5x14 Leupold would be a very good choice for a work gun.

Long Range competition would be another matter.

I have a couple of 6.5x20 Leupold MKIV scopes mounted on precision guns and both have been very repeatable. I do not own a nightforce so it would be innapropriate to give an opinion about the quality of something I have no first hand knowledge of.
