You have to travel back in time to the old west for whatever reason. You have to bring some kind of firearm. What would you bring with you? Would you go with modern weapons or ones that are standard for the time period. The ammount of ammunition you have is not a factor. Choose a handgun and long gun combo to bring with you.

Beretta M-9 pistol with nite sights and M-16A2 with ACOG.

(And a big ol' leather bag of frangmentation and WP grenades.):D :p :D

Now if ammo was a concern, then a brace of Colt Anacondas in .45 Colt, and modern Reproduction of the Winchester 1886 in .45-70.

SKS rifle and stainless steel S&W 686. Both pretty much indestructable under any conditions and mechanically simple enough to reproduce or repair in that time frame. :D

I'd make a BUNDLE with my "new" firearms

Unless the trip is one-way and I'm not coming back, I'd probably not take anything other than my old Hi-Power and several thousand dollars worth of gold.

While there, I'd buy up as many guns as I could, bring 'em back to the present, sell 'em ( Except for a few "choice" ones ), then repeat as many times as I was allowed. :D

If the trip were one-way, I'd probably just take the money. I'm sure I could make do with the guns of the time without any trouble, and there's certainly no need in attracting any unwanted attention if you're gonna have to live there.

If I were to stay in the old west, I'd take along a ZH-29 rifle and a Stechkin machine-pistol.
ZH-29

A strange rifle - kind of old-school tacti-cool, I guess. Selective fire, too.

If I was allowed to go wherever I pleased, I'd take along a FAL, semi-auto only - with optics upon it. For a pistol, I'd take... a 1911. I'd see if the British wanted help in their dozens of colonial wars. I might steer clear of that whole Zulu War bit - though I'm sure I could do a fine job at Rorke's Drift... maybe.

I'm glad I am NOT the only one who thinks about this! I'd take,

my M4 with the scope, BUIS, and all the goodies,

and two of my favorite 1911's, plus both of my SAA'a and my 336, and 1894 just in case!

M240G; G3; something big but light, say one of those new cutdown Barrett M82 carbines; some sort of .308 countersniper rifle, say a Remington 700, with something big, fat and nightvision capable; couple of M4s in case we have to move and groove, maybe a 458 SOCOM upper for an M4 (bison hunting), a SMG of some sort, say HK54, in 9mm; and a couple of Glock 17s.

Bunch of ammo, I want mostly ball, but some soft point .308, and a bunch of Cyclone AP in 9mm. You need AP for shooting through whorehouse walls don't ya like in the Westerns?:D

"You need AP for shooting through whorehouse walls don't ya like in the Westerns?" I dunno. In Support Your Local Sheriff, it was done with a cannon. Maybe you need a 40mm grenade launcher?

Springfield M1A with 25 Round USGI Mags, and a HK USP Tactical .45

Hey... I own the M1A now, and am in the market for the HK... why not just bring those back with me? Ive done the research into what I wanted, why change it up just because Im traveling back in time?

:D

A full auto AK and a USGI 1911. The local smithy ain't gonna be much help for replacement parts so unquestionable reliability and stopping power are of the utmost importance.

Are 19th century western American zombies any different that their 21st century eastern counterparts?

Are old 12ga shells likely to work in a modern pump-action? When were .22s (short, long or LR) developed?

Probably a .45-70 Guide Gun, a .22lr revolver, and an 870.

AK-47 and a Browning Hi-Power. Maybe an 88 magnum... they shoot through schools you know.
My mother shot through a school once.... Once.

I was gonna pick a BHP for my sidearm because I love mine but I figure that .45ACP would be better to have.
