Hello and thank you for reading my first post, this looks like a very informative site. My question is directed to those who have timed a Savage bolt. Is it within the realm of the mechanically competent and can you post a step by step? Thank you in advance, Mike.

Welcome to the High Road.
You may wish to cue us in on the model and a discription of the problem.

Thanx, no real problem with the rifle, it's a 110. Just that I've heard that timing the action whatever that is can free up bolt lift, decrease lock time etc.

It involves making sure the bolt cam angles on the lugs, primary extraction cam, and cocking cam are not working against each other.

It is not a DIY job however, and requires precision milling equipment, tooling, etc. to do it right.
