Hello all,

I just bought a new stock from Boyd's to put my Savage 12FV in .308 into. I got it all installed, and the gun is accurate, but I used to be able to load the blind magazine with 4 rounds, push them down, then load one into the chamber. However, I can now no longer do that, as the fourth round will not go down low enough to let the bolt pass over it. So, I figure I can just have a four-shot rifle. However, when I load four rounds in, the round after the first one won't load, because it is stuck in the bottom of the magazine and is too low to be picked up by the bolt. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong? Thank you in advance to anyone who takes the time to assist me.

It sounds like the stock inletting for the blind magazine is tight and squeezing the bottom of the magazine. How was the fit when you put the stock on? I suggest pulling the stock off and checking your magazine to see if it is bent. Also try your old stock. I bet if you open up the area of the stock where the magazine goes it will work for you.

As suggested, sounds like a pinch or some kind, or something hinky with the magazine spring on the re-install. Pull it apart, check for damage to mag, pull the mag follower and spring to check for foreign matter - wood dust? - gunking it up. Make sure bullets fit as previously in the mag. All checks out, fiddle with it in the stock, see where the pinch is, what may be pressing on something etc. The stock needs a little fitting not absolutely "drop-in".

False alarm, everyone, you can all go home now lol. I'm an idiot, and put the spring in backwards. I flipped it around and put the follower on top, and now all is well. Thank you, everyone, for attempting to help me!

I figured that it had to be something simple or at the most the stock needed relieves a little bit around the magazine. Glad that you figured it out and it was an easy fix.
